The Wei family had spent many years at the border. After returning to Chang'an, they shot to the top of the city's powerful and noble families.
As such, they attracted a great deal of jealousy.
Many of those who were jealous of the Wei family's power didn't dare to confront Wei Minlan or Wei Mingsang directly.
But things were different when it came to Wei Mingqi. Though he was a young master of the Wei family, he was, at the end of the day, merely the son of a concubine.
Wei Mingqi could only clench his fists, forcing himself to endure it.
He couldn't retaliate against Prince Cheng and his companions, who were mocking him. After all, they were all favored, legitimate sons of their families.
Besides, what they were saying wasn't wrong. For him to want to marry the legitimate daughter of Marquis Zhongyong was indeed a case of a toad lusting after a swan.
