They weren't allowed to integrate and become members of the Grymdale Tribe, so it was perfectly normal for them to be imprisoned as breeding tools. This was the fate of most females after a war between tribes.
'Why most?'
Because a few females would rather die than submit—like the original owner's mother, the Witch of the Oasis Tribe.
And the final fate for those females was to perish along with their tribe.
Evangeline calmed herself, carefully recalling the scene of burying bodies in the Oasis Tribe. She tried desperately to remember if she'd seen any of her familiar "sisters" among them, but after ransacking her memory, she still had no clue.
