According to the laws of Kelldorn, servants from a convicted criminal's household who were found by the Magistracy to be uninvolved in the crime could have their servitude contracts returned. The Magistracy could, based on the circumstances, release them to return home. This applied to hired help, long-term laborers, and servants on redeemable contracts.
As for those who committed crimes alongside their masters, the lighter sentences involved being exiled and sold off with them. The more severe punishment was to be beheaded and die with their masters.
There was another category: those on the official slave registry. These individuals had been demoted to slavery because of their family's past crimes and were sold by the Magistracy. Unless granted a special pardon by the Magistracy, their freedom could not be bought. Therefore, when their masters committed a crime, they would simply be sold off a second time.
