Chapter 27 - Chapter 27

"Take my hand Sean," Percy said, putting his hand out. "What we're about to do is called a magical bond. You will be connected to me through until I let go of your hand. You will not get hurt; it may feel like you're out of control. All you must of hang on tight. This is gonna be a little crazy, but it will be a lot of fun once you get used to it. Are you ready!"

"Biometric pressure is ready," a voice said over the intercom. "Everyone, prepare yourself and have a safe journey, and we look forward to seeing you back."

Before Sean could say thank you, the floor opened below him, and his face felt the intensity of a speed he could not comprehend. "Oh my goodness," Sean yelled as he held on tight onto Percy's hand. He realized that he was within a tube of light. He was surrounded by a kaleidoscope of light that he couldn't keep up with.

"Can you hear me?" Sean listened to a voice going through his head. "Yeah, I can hear you, but can you hear me?"

"Yes, this is my spiritual art. I'm able to stream my thoughts into your consciousness by connecting hands. Are you okay? I know we're going quite fast, and in this tube, I wanna tell you that you're safe. Keep your eyes forward and experience it. This is what we call a vortex. This is the connection between the earth and the heaven realms. The vortex it's not too long, and we should enter through the earth's atmosphere here in a minute or two, but what do you think?" Percy chuckled, his laugh filling Sean's subconscious.

"It's gorgeous," Sean said, "and you can really understand what I'm thinking; this is amazing. Can I learn how to do it?"

"No, sadly, you cannot. This is my particular spiritual art," Percy said, "each human has a spiritual skill you are born with, and over time, you will understand what your spiritual art is. I use mine to warn people. I'm more of a background guy, but I enjoy helping people. I like to fight too, but my job here is to let help people. There is also a good training ground back home to hone your art. You're almost there yourself."

"I'm grateful for your help." As they approached a tiny village, Sean noticed that the colors had faded. There were lights like in a carnival, and they looked like they were 200 or 300 feet above the ground.

"Everybody, hang on. We're almost there." Elijah then put his arms out like he was flying. Faye flew over to him with Melody. They all connected hands and descended slowly before they landed on a rooftop.

"How fantastic," Melody exclaimed. "Faye, you are amazing! You two make a great team."

"I am pretty dang good," Faye said. "Percy and I do make a good team, and we work together often. I was about to go to the hot springs and work on my skin a little bit. Even though we're in the afterlife, I still want to make sure my skin looks good," the uptight Dreamweaver stated.

"All right, everybody, look alive. We can enter through here," Percy said. Percy walked through the window, and Faye and Melody followed.

I feel like they're all part of an inside joke I don't know about.I can stand on top of this house and not fall through, but they just went through the window. He clapped his hands on his face three times. I should have paid more attention in physics class. Why am I not falling through it? Sean stood there looking at the glass window covered in condensation.

"Are you coming?" Melody said as she put her head through the glass.

I'm stumped," Sean said. "Why did you go through the glass? I mean, how did you do it?"

"You just do it; you're a spirit being now. You can walk through the glass, and you can go through the top of this building. But you have to focus." Melody put her head back through the glass disappearing from Sean's eyesight.

I feel like she's been training for this way longer than I have.Ok, here we go. Hopefully I will not get glass marks. Sean walked up. He put his hand through the glass, then his whole body. He entered the room. He saw a child in bed and a mother beside him.

Percy looked back at Sean, Melody, and Faye. "Demonic pressure is at a 2.9," he said to the three of them. "We have about four hours until daylight. The quicker, the better." His eyes traced the group behind him with concern. "You have a limited amount of time before the dream world collapses, so we must get in, exorcise the demon, and get out of there. This should be an easy one since it's 2.9, but things can quickly change in the spiritual realm. We always have to be on our guard. All right, everybody, hang on to my hand."

Sean wanted to ask many more questions. However, as Sean grabbed Percy's hand, he felt himself ready to pass out. There was an instantaneous darkness that enveloped his soul.

Sean opened his eyes and felt like he was going to throw up. He didn't know if everyone experienced the same nausea. He saw nothing but bright colors around him, and they were in a sort of tunnel of sorts.

When Percy unlocked his watch, he glanced back at Melody and Sean, then nodded his head. "When you go into the spiritual world, it's important to prepare your heart for it. You're both definitely dizzy and on the verge of passing out, but try to concentrate on your breathing."

"I am okay, how about you? I may be a little bit stubborn today, but I'm not gonna let you get hurt in any way." Percy walked over to Melody and Sean, who were huffing a little bit.

"I do feel a bit unsteady," Melody said as she tried to walk to Sean. "Hold me a little bit, won't you?"

"I can barely hold myself," Sean stated.

"Breathe deeply. The transition from the spiritual world to the demonic domain is jarring. When you get acclimated to the pressure, you'll be okay." Faye grabbed both novice travelers by the shoulders and held them there.

So this is the presence of a demon. Sean put his hand on his head, steadied himself, and he held on to Melody's hand rather tight. "Are you okay?" he looked over at her.

"Yeah, I'm all right," Melody said. She lifted her self off her knees.

Sean stood up straight, sweat pouring from his head. "Okay, I got this. I think I'm ready."

Percy looked back at the three Dreamweaver's. "Our mission today is a twelve-year-old child, and he doesn't seem to have any medical anomalies. It would appear he was under a lot of stress trying to live up to his family's potential."

"Stress can do a lot of harm to the body," Faye said. "This isn't the first time we've seen young children suffering because of their parents' expectations of them. It's quite sad. Actually, I hate seeing children in pain, and this makes me stressed. She let go of Melody's hand and smiled. "You ready?"

"Yeah, I'm ready," Melody said.

Sean smiled as he walked up next to Percy. "So, what's the plan? What do we do now?"
