Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 --[[Cloud’s Family]]

 Pitch Black Bullet World.

On the outskirts of Tokyo, on a small island used exclusively to exile Cursed Children, faint ripples suddenly spread through the air at a corner of an inconspicuous sewer.

An illusory figure stepped out.

"I'm back…"

Yun tilted her little head and looked around carefully. After confirming her surroundings, relief appeared in her eyes. This place wasn't far from the spot where she and her sisters lived. Just a few hundred meters away was the sewer exit piled high with garbage—the place she had originally planned to search for food.

She hadn't expected that simply passing through this corner would take her to a strange place…

Nor that she would meet such a kind big brother there.

"And this…" Yun murmured softly, touching the back of her left hand. "Big brother said I have to wait until the countdown ends—thirty days—before I can go back again."

After the countdown reached zero, following the method he taught her, all she had to do was find a corner, staircase, or door and walk through it.

"It's a long time," Yun said earnestly, clenching her small fists, "but Yun will wait obediently."

She lowered her hand and touched the small bag tied around her waist. It was given to her when she left—filled with magical cards she had traded for herself.

Delicious cakes.

Warm new clothes.

Medicines that could heal her sisters' wounds.

Her steps unconsciously grew lighter.

More than ten minutes later, Yun stopped in front of an unremarkable sewer manhole. She squatted down and knocked gently.

Knock, knock.

With a soft clang, the cover was pushed open.

A girl of about fifteen or sixteen climbed out. The instant she saw Yun, her black pupils turned crimson.

"Yun!" Sakura pulled her tightly into her arms. Her hands trembled as she stroked Yun's back again and again, her voice stern yet soaked with fear. "Where did you go? Don't you know how dangerous it is outside?"

She was truly afraid—afraid that Yun would never return, afraid that she would lose her in some forgotten corner of the city.

"I'm sorry, sister," Yun said hurriedly, raising her small hands to wipe Sakura's tears. "Yun just wanted to help."

Struggling gently free, Yun removed the small bag from her waist and placed it in front of Sakura.

"…Thank you, Yun," Sakura said softly, hugging her again after a pause. "But next time, you're never allowed to sneak out alone."

"I know, sister."

Yun nodded seriously.

Sakura smiled faintly and patted Yun's head. Then she led her deeper inside.

What lay within was an abandoned sewage treatment room, long since forgotten.

Sakura needed to tell her other two sisters that Yun had returned safely. They were too badly injured to move; without the Cursed Children's powerful vitality, they would have died long ago.

Even so, their situation was dire.

They had been attacked while begging for food near the safe zone—by people wielding rhenium-metal weapons. The wounds were difficult to heal, and without food or medicine, Sakura didn't know how much longer her sisters could survive.

She blamed herself endlessly.

Her own injuries weren't much better. That was why Yun had managed to sneak out unnoticed.

Truthfully, Sakura had been ready to drag her broken body outside to search for Yun. Losing her last sister was something she couldn't even imagine.

That was why, when Yun returned, Sakura's emotions had overflowed so uncontrollably.

To her—an abandoned child who had survived by relying on her sisters—those three younger girls were more precious than her own life.

"Amber, Ye," Sakura whispered, sitting beside the bed where the two unconscious girls lay, their wounds wrapped only in clean cloth. "Yun has come back."

She steadied herself.

Now that Yun was safe, Sakura planned to go out again—to find medicine, bandages… maybe even a doctor, if such a miracle existed.

Though she knew the truth.

Doctors wouldn't treat Cursed Children. Some would even celebrate their deaths.

"I'll be back soon," Sakura said softly. "I'll definitely cure you."

"Sister Sakura," Yun's small voice interrupted.

A scarred little hand stretched out, holding a card tightly.

"This is medicine. Big brother prepared it—for Sister Amber and Sister Ye."

"…Medicine?" Sakura froze.

"Mhm!" Yun nodded hard. "I bought it from big brother. He's a legendary mysterious merchant!"

As the card shattered, a medicine box appeared—filled with antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, blood supplements, and detailed instructions.

Relying on pictures and the few words she recognized, Sakura quickly administered the medicine, cleaned the wounds, and replaced the bandages. At the bottom, she found two bags of glucose and painstakingly helped Amber and Ye drink them.

Only then did Sakura finally relax.

With these medicines—and the Cursed Children's recovery ability—her sisters would live.

The tension drained from her body.

And the moment it did, the world spun.

"Sister!" Yun cried, quickly supporting Sakura and helping her onto the bed. Carefully, just as Sakura had done earlier, Yun began tending to her sister's wounds.

This time, it was Yun's turn.

When Sakura awoke again, it was the smell that stirred her.

Her empty stomach protested loudly.

Yun was bustling around, stuffing food into Amber and Ye's hands, her eyes shining with anticipation.

"Sister Sakura, you're awake!"

Yun rushed over and pressed a piece of cake to Sakura's lips.

"Eat quickly! It's delicious!"

"…Mhm."

The moment Sakura bit down, sweetness flooded her senses—something she had never tasted before.

She had once been chased away before even approaching a cake shop.

"It's so good," Sakura murmured.

"There's lots more!" Yun said proudly. "Big brother gave all of it to me!"

"…Yun," Sakura asked gently, "can you tell me about this kind big brother?"

"Mhm!"

Yun nodded excitedly, pulling Sakura to the table. Surrounded by warm food and her recovering sisters, she began recounting everything—

The strange white place.

The gentle merchant.

And the miracle that had saved their family.
