Chapter 1 - Friend Request

Static crackled on Charlotte's television as she scrolled social media on her phone. Lingerie, pillows, and fingernail polish cluttered her bedroom floor. Marijuana, perfume, and pizza lingered as cigarette smoke swirled towards the ceiling fan. Pop music played on the portable JBL speaker that sat on the wooden dresser near the window.

"Ugh, I knew I should have gotten a Samsung," she groaned as she brushed her long black hair out of her face. She reached for the television remote on the pillow nearby. "At least the internet works," she said as she turned off the TV and then collapsed on her bed.

"Did you fuck him?" She messaged her friend as she navigated to her phone contacts.

"Girl, it was over in three minutes," her friend replied with a disappointed emoji.

Charlotte grinned. "I told you he was a bad fuck," she replied, then started to pack a bowl. Charlotte swiped her Facebook, liking random posts on her feed.

"Whateva...what about you. Still haven't found any dick?"Her friend replied two minutes later.

"Went on a date the other day. Dude expected me pay for everything," Charlotte replied as she continued to scroll her feed. "Ohhhh, who is that?" She said as she checked her friend requests.

The verified profile picture was a pale-skinned, toned teenage girl with long, wet black hair streaked with teal highlights. She wore an oversized black hoodie bearing glitch-distorted "Prime" text. The teenage girl had heterochromatic eyes. Her left eye glowed mulberry-purple, surrounded by a black void, contrasting with the blazing solar orange of her right eye. Flames crackled from her simple white masquerade mask covering the right side of her face. Red-rimmed, powerful eyes, while glitch effects, static white noise, and galaxies distort the image.

"Wait, she follows this profile?" She said as she noticed the friend she was texting was following the account. Charlotte took a screenshot and then sent a message to her friend. "Who is this?"

"No idea, can't even remember when I started to follow it," her friend texted back. "The artwork is dope though."

Charlotte accepted the friend request and snooped the profile page. "Might be a bot account," she texted back, sending a screenshot of the profile page that was absent of any bio.

"Could be a bot account," Her friend replied.

Charlotte's finger hovered over the unfriend button, but didn't click it, distracted by another app notification.

"Wanna get high?"Charlotte texted her friend, then hopped off her bed, browsing the profile page.

"I got a new bong," her friend replied with a picture and a smirk emoji.

"Nice, be there in ten," Charlotte texted back, but it failed to send. Her nails tap repeatedly on the send button on her phone screen. "Fucking app," she grumbled as the message was finally delivered after she closed and then opened the social media app.

Charlotte grabbed her purse off the dresser and then took her car keys from the living room. Her ceiling light flickered as she grabbed a slice of cold pizza from the pizza box on the coffee table. She glanced up at the light with a raised eyebrow as she bit into the pepperoni pizza slice.

"I just changed that light last week!" Charlotte muttered to herself, then rolled her eyes. She flipped the light off, then tossed the pizza crust into the trash can. "Whatever, I'll deal with it later," she said, then left her apartment.

Static crackled on the car radio as she turned the ignition of her Lexus. "Oh my god...what in the ever fuck!?" Charlotte yelled as she turned off the radio and then plugged in her phone. "Is there like some solar flare going on...because this is getting annoying."

The scent of rain lingered in the air as Charlotte pulled out of the parking lot. Charlotte played some pop music from her phone as she drove down the road. Oaktrees stretch towards the gray, orange, and blue sunset sky while apartment complexes align the suburban sprawl.

She followed traffic as she turned on the highway. City lights glowed like fireflies as skyscrapers clawed towards the heavens. Celebrities, movies, and sex shops were advertised on billboards amongst the neon glow of the skyline. Industrial waste, wet grass, and steel lingered in the air as Charlotte exited the interstate, turning down a quaint suburban neighborhood.

"Fuck forgot my flower at home," Charlotte grumbled as she gazed down at the empty bowl in the drink holder. She stopped at a stop sign, then grabbed her phone. "Forgot the weed, going to stop at the dispensary next to the sex shop down the road," she texted, then started to drive again.

Streelights and neon-lit signs flickered like angry wasps as Charlotte pulled into the dispensary. Jagged and distorted shadows danced across the pavement as she turned off her vehicle and walked towards the shop. Pine sol, marijuana, and musk hit Charlotte's nose as she entered.

Charlotte's eyes glanced around the dispensary, void of any customers or employees. The fluorescent lights emitted a dim eggshell white glow, flickering like a dying sun. The sound of objects clanking in the backroom caught her attention. Grunts and moans echoed as she walked towards the service desk with a raised eyebrow.

"Someone back there?" Charlotte asked as she leaned on the desk.

Her eyes widened as she peeked into the backroom. Charlotte's heart raced as she saw a rosy-skinned woman bent over a chair. Her ass cheeks jiggled as the employee of the dispensary pounded her from behind. Sweat trickled down his back as his black cock pistoned the girl's pussy while holding onto her college sweater.

"Fuck me, fuck me, fuck meeeee," the college girl moaned as she arched her back on the chair. She stared with lustful eyes at the dick pounding her red ass cheeks.

Charlotte's cheeks flushed as she watched, biting her lip as she glanced at the front door.

"Yo, some chick is fucking the dispensary employee," she texted her friend.

"Is it the black guy?" Her friend replied.

"Yes, girl!"

"He gives free weed if you let him fuck you."

"I'm not about that life."

"I did it maybe once or twice," Charlotte's friend replied with the see-no-evil monkey emoji.

Charlotte's mouth dropped as she texted back. "You are such a whore."

"Anybody there?" The dispensary employee asked as Charlotte's phone beeped with a notification.

"Oh...I am sorry, I didn't know yall was closed," Charlotte mumbled as she dropped her phone to the ground. "I can come back another time?"

"Nah its cool. If you're looking to get something, I can hook you up with the special discount?" The employee asked as he struggled to fasten his belt.

Charlotte forced a smile, then picked up her phone. "Oh, that's okay. I gotta meet up with my friend...maybe another time," she stammered as she headed towards the front door, almost tripping over her feet in the process.

The employee shrugged as Charlotte left the dispensary, returning to fucking the girl in the backroom. Charlotte took a deep breath as she entered her vehicle. Her phone lit up in her hand. Mulberry eyes glitched on her phone screen as she grabbed the car keys from her pocket. The engine hummed as she put the car in reverse. Static screeched in her ears when her radio turned on, despite the audio jack being inserted in her phone.

Ominious pulsating drums over aggressive 808s and analog Moog played on the radio, glitching with pitch-shifted beats and vocals. Streetlights one by one flickered like lightning bugs in a jar before glowing an eerie mulberry color. Charlotte stared wide-eyed as jagged shadows stretched across the road, then everything went black and all she could hear was the sound of static.

Charlotte accepted the friend request and snooped the profile page. A sense of deja vu crept up her spine like a centipede. She stared at the screen with narrow eyes, scratching the back of her neck.

"Could be a bot account," Her friend replied.

Charlotte's finger hovered over the unfriend button, but didn't click it, distracted by another app notification.

"Oh, that's right, can't forget my weed," Charlotte said as she snapped her fingers. Her bedroom television crackled with static as she grabbed her weed and then texted her friend that she was on the way.
