Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 - Timeline

After getting the note from Doctor Roki, Mrs. Mori took Jun out of the hospital.

"Dad is just downstairs, so don't be surprised if you feel his emotions, you should know his quirk Empath makes him feel more deeply."

Jun nodded, thinking about who exactly was his father.

That question would soon be answered as a tall but rather skinny man saw him, his expression lighting up.

"Junya!" the man ran over and scooped him up. As soon as contact was made, Jun felt another strong pulse within his subconscious. Stronger than earlier with Doctor Roki, but almost stronger than the one last night with Mrs. Mori.

"Dad?"

"Yes, it's dad!" Mr. Mori started kissing his forehead. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you not to expand your senses with our quirk, can you forgive dad?"

"Yeah…" Jun found himself hugging his new father(?) tightly as he closed his eyes, focusing on the pulse.

In the empty space he saw the two previous orbs circling him. A new orb colored in white, the same size as the grey orb, was floating there.

Jun reached out for it and immediately a flood of emotions came into him. Stronger, mentally taxing as he felt a new sense open and expand far.

When Jun opened his eyes, both parents were looking at him with worried eyes.

Jun reached up to his nose, noticing it felt warm.

When his finger came away, they were pinged with red.

"Oh…"

Then the flood from the new quirk. He felt everyone in the lobby's emotion all at once.

Blood flowed from his nose again as he willed the power to STOP.

Then silence.

He then realized that he started hearing his parents' concerned voices calling for a doctor.

"Mom, Dad… it's fine… I'm fine.. I turned it off.."

"You just… stopped it? Your control of your quirk is astounding, it took me a few years to turn it off completely."

Mr. Mori took out a handkerchief from his jacket as he wiped Jun's nose. "But this means your quirk is as strong as mine right now. I certainly wasn't strong or in control of my quirk enough at your age to cause bleeds."

Strong? But I just got it… there's more to this quirk copying then I thought.

"I'll just keep it off until I'm with less people."

"Smart idea!" Mr. Mori laughed it off as he pocketed the bloodied handkerchief.

Mrs. Mori however had a less pleased expression. "Are you sure you're fine? Mom doesn't have a quirk so I want you to tell me with 100% certainty."

Jun looked at his mom surprised. No quirk? Then what did her orb give me?

"I'm sure mom, I was just surprised by the amount of people."

She nodded, looking at her husband who looked at him with a slightly guilty look. "If he says he's fine, trust him dear."

Mrs. Mori sighed, shaking her head. "Fine! But one more slip up, and we're marching back here."

Jun looked at his dad. Ah… the downside of having the legendary Tomboy wife. You aren't wearing the pants here.

"Of course dear. Junya's safety comes first."

Mrs. Mori nodded, grabbing both their hands heading out of the hospital.

The drive home was silent. Jun feigned sleep as his dad drove, his mother clearly letting him rest.

Inside the empty space of his mind, he poked and prodded the orbs.

His father's white orb was greyed out, looking lifeless.

"That's off." He willed it to work, it quickly gained its luster of glowing white.

Jun clearly felt the emotions outside his mind. His mom's quiet worry, his dad's pride mixed with the same worry.

"That's his quirk, Empath."

He turned it off again. He ignored the small pale green orb. It needed concentration to work unlike Empath just being on.

Rather Jun poked at the grey orb that belonged to his mother. "What are you supposed to give?"

With every poke he felt the tingle travel up his finger comforting his hand.

"Is it a soothing effect? Healing?"

He took the orb in both hands, sitting in the lotus position. He let the sensation roll over him.

Soon he felt a hand shake him. Opening his eyes, he saw his mother shaking him. The movement of the car had stopped.

"We're home, Junya. Let's get you to sleep somewhere more comfortable."

"Okay, mom." Jun let out a big yawn, he felt more tired as if he expended all his energy.

Was it the orb or the side effects of the quirk?

Jun yawned again, interrupting his thoughts. Sleep first, then answers… hopefully.

A few days passed, his mother kept him home from school for the rest of the week, which was a blessing for Jun.

He was NOT ready for school again, even if it was middle school difficulty.

Luckily during that time he had looked into where he was in the timeline. All Might existed, he was the #1 pro hero so his face was everywhere.

Looking at how long All Might's career was, Jun remembered an offhand comment about All Might's career in MHA being around three, maybe four decades.

He's been a pro for roughly 27 years. That gives me… roughly a decade if I'm lucky, less if it's early 30s.

Next he looked up any socials for Izuku or Bakugo. That turned up nothing.

Nothing? Are they too young to have a media presence? That's good, they might be my age or younger.

Jun pushed away from the desk, spinning in his chair. Do I even care about getting involved? I mean, it's an anime, heroes are going to win even if I haven't seen the ending.

Then Jun remembered the greatest superhero in his heart, a rather modern view of the greatest call to arms a superhero could have.

When you can do the things that I can, but you don't, and then the bad things happen? They happen because of you.

Or the more classic version. With great power comes great responsibility.

Fuck you, Spider-Man… making me feel bad.

Jun got up, pacing in the room.

Okay, publicly my quirk is Empath. That's not a combat quirk. Hell, I probably only qualify as a sidekick support if I went the hero route.

But this... orb stuff, that's a secret weapon. If I can just be weird, maybe figure it out more…

Jun stopped pacing, looking up at the ceiling. Let the protagonists fight the villain, and change what I can from the sidelines without dying. That's the best you're gonna get from me, Spider-Man.

Sitting back down in the chair, Jun spun a pen in his fingers. Izuku got ripped as fuck surprising people even before whipping up the finger busters.

That's 100% possible for me to recreate, especially with Biological Blueprint, I can see my body in more detail. I just need the information to actually use it.

He pushed the pen cap against his forehead letting it click over and over again as he thought. Fuck, I just signed up to do medical research outside my paygrade.
