Chapter 8 - Chapter 7: The Nightmare That Felt Real

Silas awoke from sleep after hearing a loud explosion outside.

When he opened the door, he saw the entire city destroyed by robots.

He froze in place.

It wasn't fear.

It wasn't anger.

It was pure shock.

He thought to himself,

"I was only here for a few hours… how did the city crumble so fast?"

He muttered to himself,

"Is this my curse? Why am I not allowed to rest?

Kill me already… I'm exhausted."

Tears rolled down his face as he spoke.

Then, far away, he noticed a man in black, both hands holding something. As he looked closer, the figure slowly emerged.

Silas couldn't see his face. It was shrouded in darkness, but what he held in his hands was unmistakable.

It was two heads.

Silas gagged and cried out. The hidden man hurled the heads toward him and said:

"Look… they saved you.

You are cursed.

Anyone who comes near you will die."

Silas recognized the heads—it was Hamza and Ripper.

He stared into their eyes. They weren't angry or afraid—they were eyes that had witnessed something unbelievable before death.

Suddenly, Silas jolted awake, screaming:

"No!"

He ran to the door to check if it had been a dream—it had. Just a dream.

But there was a man standing in front of him.

"Step out. Commander Roy is calling you."

Silas thought to himself,

"It wasn't just a dream… but the eyes, they were so real. Who was that man in black? Why can't I remember his face?"

As he walked toward Commander Roy's office, his mind raced over the dream. Unaware, he was told:

"Enter the office. The commander is waiting for you."

Silas stepped inside.

"Greetings, sir. Did you call for me?"

Roy replied,

"Yes. Sit down, my boy. Tell me your name."

"My name is Silas."

Commander Roy assumed it was a nickname.

"Your real name?"

Silas repeated the same name.

Roy looked surprised.

"Who gave you such a strange name?"

Silas explained that it had been given to him by a homeless man, and that he had lost him that very night. From then on, he had lived alone for many years.

Roy asked,

"If you had been an ordinary person, you would have died long ago. How did you survive?"

Silas said that the first time he opened his eyes, he was inside a metal pit—not dug from stone or soil, but carefully constructed.

Roy sat back, listening closely.

"If it wasn't a pit, it was a small house built for you. Did the old man tell you his name?"

Silas admitted he couldn't remember the man's face. He had only seen him for one night.

Roy asked how he had survived the robots.

Silas replied,

"Whenever I went into the pit, they never attacked me. They stayed a short distance away."

Roy was astonished.

"Why couldn't they enter? And how did you get food if you couldn't leave the pit?"

Silas explained that sometimes the robots malfunctioned, and he took advantage of that. They killed any living creature, so he survived by hunting animals, eating them raw.

"That's how I lived."

But one day, things changed. The robots activated earlier than usual. He tried to retreat to the pit, but they caught him.

"They planned to kill me… but Leader David and his team saved me. I'm sorry they died because of me."

Roy said,

"It wasn't because of you. It was an accident."

Then he asked,

"Did the robots ever activate before their scheduled time?"

"No."

Roy said,

"I believe they were guarding the city. They activated when David and his team entered. That's why they woke early."

Silas was stunned.

"If they were guarding… what exactly were they protecting?"

Roy asked,

"Did you eat breakfast?"

Silas shook his head.

"No."

Roy said,

"Come, there's a restaurant nearby. I'll make sure you get your meal."

And together, they walked to the restaurant.
