Chapter 28 - Chapter - 28 Victims Turned Monsters

Chapter - 28 Victims Turned Monsters

After Lucien took a long breath,

"I have to kill the remaining goblins," he said and left the place.

Then he went to Seris' side area, where she was fighting the human-experiment goblins or something like that.

Lucien came to this place because, by talking with Seris, he came to know that the big goblin doesn't attack her.

After asking more questions to Seris, Lucien found something suspicious about this.

That's why he believed that there were some goblins left in this area.

Lucien came to Seris' side area.

He looked around and checked his surroundings to find a clue about the goblins, but he found no sign.

After that, he looked at the forest.

"I think there is some chance that the goblins are in the forest," Lucien said inwardly.

He went inside the forest.

In the forest, there was no light, and it was a moonless night.

That meant there was no light at all.

After Lucien used fire magic to see things properly,

he started searching the area.

A few minutes later,

he saw the footprints of goblins.

Lucien smiled.

After following the footprints, he used his sense magic skill.

He closed his eyes and calmed his mind.

Then he started to sense the goblins.

He counted: one big goblin and five small ones.

"Six," Lucien said.

He went in the direction where he sensed them.

After a few more minutes passed,

he saw them, and Lucien hid himself beside a tree.

The goblins were moving as if they were going to attack the village again.

They were picking up their swords and other weapons for the small goblins.

After they started moving toward the village, Lucien closed his eyes.

He took a long breath, then appeared in front of them.

The small goblins took one step back.

"H... HUMAN... KILL HIM!" said the big goblin.

Lucien smiled and said,

"You fools really think you can kill me?"

By saying those words,

Lucien swung his sword low at their legs.

It was a straight-line attack.

All the goblins' legs were cut off.

They screamed in pain and fell to the ground.

"You damn human!" said the big goblin in intense pain.

"As expected, only the big ones can talk then—" Lucien thought inwardly.

Lucien didn't say anything.

After he killed all the small goblins,

"You—" the big goblin was about to say something,

Lucien pointed his sword toward him.

"Tell me, who sent you here?" Lucien said in a cold voice and expression.

"Do you think I'm going to tell you this?" said the big goblin.

Lucien took a long breath.

Then he swung his sword and cut off four fingers of the goblin's right hand.

The goblin screamed in pain.

The previous pain and present pain were breaking the goblin's body.

"I'll let you go," said Lucien, and continued,

"If you tell me who sent you here."

"Huh?"

"What you said just now is true?" said the goblin.

"Yes," said Lucien with a smile.

Then the goblin looked around and thought for a moment.

"No one sent us here," the goblin said and continued—

Lucien listened.

"We were in an experiment lab a few weeks ago, and they did all types of horrible experiments on us. We were tired of them, then—"

"Are you human?" asked Lucien, cutting him off.

The goblin replied,

"Yes, I was a human before, but now those humans made us like this."

He continued,

"And one day in that lab, there was no security. There were only a few people, and that was our chance to escape. After freeing ourselves by breaking the prison, we killed all the humans and anything that came in our way. We destroyed them."

"It was this village's fault for coming in our way."

"What did you do to the lab where you were imprisoned?" asked Lucien.

"We destroyed it. That place kept reminding us of those experiment days," said the goblin.

"That's the whole story of how I ended up here, and I know nothing else."

"Can I go now?" said the goblin.

"Well, yes. I'm going to give you freedom—in heaven or hell," said Lucien.

Then he thought for a moment and continued,

"That depends on where you go."

"Huh?" the goblin was confused.

After that, Lucien smiled and swung his sword at the goblin's neck.

"You..."

The goblin's head fell off.

"...MONSTER."

The goblin said this as he died.

Lucien killed him because he knew that the goblin would kill many people in the future if he let him go.

The best choice was to kill him.

After that, Lucien took a long breath.

"This mission is complete," he said while looking at the sky, then stretched his hands.

After that, he went back to the village.

All the villagers and hunters were sleeping.

Then he went to the house where they were staying.

He opened the door and looked up.

Seris was sitting on a chair at the food table.

She also looked at Lucien.

"So, you have come," said Seris.

Lucien was shocked, but he didn't show any expression.

"I just went for a walk," said Lucien.

"I talked to the village chief, and he told me everything," said Seris.

"Huh?... I told him not to tell anyone, but... well, whatever," Lucien thought inwardly with wide eyes.

"Do Aren and Lira know about this?" asked Lucien.

Seris replied,

"No, they don't know."

Lucien took a relieved breath and sat on a chair.

Then he looked at Seris.

Seris turned her head away, acting mad like a little kid.

"Sorry," said Lucien.

"Why did you go alone? At least you should have told me," said Seris.

"Don't worry about me," said Lucien, and continued,

"After all, I'm strong."

He smiled while saying that.

She stood up and hit the table with both hands.

"That... I know," said Seris, and continued,

"You are far stronger than us, but you should also care about yourself."

Lucien didn't say anything, then—

"Okay," he said, and continued,

"Next time, if I go on a dangerous mission, I will tell you."

Seris took a long breath.

"Remember that," she said.

After that, she went to the first floor to rest. But while going—

"You should also rest your body," said Seris.

Lucien nodded.

"Okay," said Lucien.

After sitting on the chair for a while,

he raised his right hand, then closed it.

He knew they were worried about him.

In his past life, no one was worried about him.

He put both hands on his face.

"Why are they worried about me?" Lucien thought inwardly.
