BWDC:SDDK Chapter 31 Nagamitsu Nagamori: Hey, I Have a Way to Make Batman Suffer!

Nagamitsu Nagamori was stunned.

He had no idea how Ren Ichimonji had reached that conclusion.

This god-like man calling himself Batman had simply caught him and delivered a beating; he hadn't spoken a single word to Miyuki Hyuga the entire time. How did Ren Ichimonji conclude that Miyuki Hyuga intended to kill him? At this, Ren Ichimonji smiled but said nothing, merely standing up.

Batman was one of the few greatest detectives in the world.

While his own performance as Batman might not be as brilliant as Bruce Wayne's, he was nonetheless the system-appointed Batman. Supplemented by the information gathered upon entering the "Batman State," the full picture of the incident had completely revealed itself.

The officers from the Osaka Police Department, summoned by Heiji Hattori, stepped forward and hoisted Nagamitsu Nagamori up by his arms.

However, just as they were about to take him away, Ren Ichimonji spoke.

"No need to take him away just yet. Wouldn't it be better to bring him upstairs to confront the primary suspect he mentioned?"

Ren Ichimonji took a sip of his coffee, his voice becoming gentle once more.

"You'll have to spend a lot of time taking statements later anyway. Having the great detectives explain the details of the case right at the scene will lighten your workload, won't it?"

The two Osaka police officers exchanged glances.

Though something felt slightly off, the more they thought about it, the more logical it seemed.

After a moment of hesitation, they nodded.

On one hand, they felt this would indeed reduce their work burden; on the other, Ren Ichimonji was a friend of Heiji Hattori. They had worked with Heiji many times and trusted his judgment.

Therefore, a friend of Heiji Hattori should be trustworthy as well.

The two officers immediately flanked Nagamitsu Nagamori, supporting his weight as they followed Ren upstairs.

During the climb, however, they couldn't help but ask, "By the way, sir, since you are a good friend of Heiji's, and Heiji is a great detective, you must be one as well?"

Holding his coffee, Ren Ichimonji chuckled. He walked ahead without turning back, answering with total confidence.

"Of course. I am far more famous than a local detective like Heiji Hattori."

"Even Kudo Shinichi, who has considerable national fame, cannot compare to me. The only detective who might rival me is Sherlock Holmes from those world-renowned novels!"

"No... perhaps even Sherlock Holmes has been far surpassed by me now..."

Ren Ichimonji's words made the two officers beside him grow increasingly solemn and attentive.

What? This gentleman is such a formidable detective? But why have they never heard of him before today? Could it be that they were simply too ill-informed?

The slightly younger officer asked cautiously, "May I ask, what is your name?"

Ren Ichimonji smiled and gave a clear, immediate answer:

"I'm Batman!"

The two Osaka police officers: "?"

Are you kidding me? You made us crack a smile in such a serious environment.

Batman? If Ren Ichimonji claimed to be Batman, well, there wasn't really a problem with that—except Batman was a comic book character, not a real person.

Even if Batman were that incredible, there was no way Ren Ichimonji could be.

It wasn't like Ren Ichimonji actually was Batman, right?

The two Osaka officers didn't believe it for a second and laughed it off.

However, Nagamitsu Nagamori, being escorted by the two men, quietly etched this thought into his heart.

—Batman.

This god-like man had referred to himself as Batman in front of him more than once.

The police officers thought the man was joking, but Nagamitsu, who had just endured a brutal beating, didn't see it that way. Perhaps this man really was Batman!

Just with an Asian skin swapped in!

A plan for revenge began to form in Nagamitsu's mind.

Among all the members of the Justice League, the one with the most obvious weaknesses and who was the easiest to attack was Batman—the brain of the League.

He had already thought of a way to disgust Ren Ichimonji one last time before being hauled away by the police, venting the resentment in his heart!

"Curse you, Batman... I'll show you what I'm capable of..."

Nagamitsu whispered inwardly.

At that moment, the door to Dozo Nagamori's bedroom had been locked from the inside.

Mouri Kogoro turned the doorknob anxiously, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't open the door.

He immediately looked at the butler, Shinosuke Musashi.

The old butler understood instantly and whispered, "I'll go to the storage room to get the spare key right away!"

Hearing this, Heiji Hattori and Conan couldn't help but feel their muscles twitch.

Are you serious, old man? Getting a key?

Just earlier, on the same floor, it took you over thirty seconds to get a key from the storage room. Now that you're not even on the same floor, won't it take a full minute to go back and forth? Who has that kind of time?

Not only did Heiji and Conan realize this, but Ran Mouri noticed it as well.

With a sharp shout, she lowered her center of gravity and delivered a powerful kick to the bedroom door.

Suddenly, with a thunderous CRASH!

Under the horrified gazes of the crowd, the security door to Dozo Nagamori's bedroom was kicked down by this seemingly ordinary high school girl with no visible muscle!

"No way, she's even tougher than Kazuha..."

The words escaped Heiji Hattori's lips instinctively.

However, he immediately realized now was not the time for surprise.

Instantly, Heiji, Mouri Kogoro, and Conan scrambled into the bedroom. They looked toward the bed bathed in moonlight and at Miyuki Hyuga, who was standing by the window holding something. They shouted,

"Mr. Nagamori, are you alright?"

Just as everyone was fraught with tension, there was finally movement on the bed.

The old man on the bed let out a sound like a death rattle, then whispered,

"That was such a good sleep... Why are you all here?"

Dozo Nagamori: "?" Mouri Kogoro and others: "?"

Seriously, old man? Why the scary noises? We thought you'd been taken out!

"You all are a bit too excited."

Ren Ichimonji's voice rang out from behind the group.

Looking at Miyuki Hyuga, who stood by the window gazing blankly outside while holding something, he flipped the light switch. The room instantly brightened.

The object in Miyuki Hyuga's hand was now fully visible to Mouri Kogoro and the others.

—It was an electric kettle.

Mouri Kogoro: "?"

Huh? A kettle? Why are you holding a kettle by the window in the middle of the night with the door locked? I thought you were holding a murder weapon and locked the door to commit a crime!

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

It seemed Nagamitsu Nagamori was talking complete nonsense.

However, Conan and Heiji Hattori vaguely sensed that something was wrong with Miyuki Hyuga's demeanor. But before Conan could think further, a hand rested on his shoulder.

In the next moment, Conan heard Ren Ichimonji's voice:

"Kick that kettle out of Miyuki Hyuga's hand. It's filled with gasoline."

"Unless you want her to turn into a charcoal briquette and burn this whole house down with her..."

Conan: "!"

The real disaster is right here?!
