Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: Comprehensive Upgrade

To ordinary people, the artificial intelligence Batman had provided was little more than an abstract concept—interesting on paper, difficult to grasp, and seemingly impractical.

But Tony Stark was not ordinary.

In Stark's eyes, Batman's technology wasn't just software. It was a foundation—one that could be applied to weapons development, aerospace engineering, autonomous vehicles, medical diagnostics, industrial automation… virtually every sector Stark Industries touched.

Faced with a man who was clearly still a university student, yet possessed technological insight decades ahead of its time, Tony Stark made a decisive choice.

He didn't buy the product.

He bought the knowledge.

---

"Sir," Jarvis said calmly once Batman had departed, "congratulations on formally establishing a connection with a young man of exceptional talent."

"Young?" Tony scoffed, leaning back in his chair. "He only looks young. Talking to him felt like my father climbed out of the grave and hijacked his body."

"While that analogy may not be entirely accurate," Jarvis replied, "your emotional indicators suggest you are in a notably positive mood."

Tony smirked.

---

While Stark Tower basked in calm confidence, Brooklyn descended into chaos.

Deep within the sewer system, Captain Fick had made a careful decision.

One taser shot wasn't enough.

If Dr. Otto Octavius truly posed the threat intelligence suggested, then restraint required certainty. Fick ordered four taser units to fire simultaneously, attacking from different angles.

The officers were professionals. The weapons were specialized.

The electric rounds struck Dr. Otto almost at the same instant.

His body convulsed violently as high-voltage current surged through him—non-lethal, but overwhelming.

Bang.

A sharp explosion erupted behind Dr. Otto.

The control chip regulating the mechanical tentacles was destroyed.

Everything unfolded exactly according to plan.

And yet—

The outcome defied logic.

One tentacle, no longer restrained, lunged forward at impossible speed.

It pierced straight through Captain Fick's chest.

"I destroyed the control chip… so why—"

That thought never finished forming.

Captain Fick was dead.

---

"Fire!"

Gunfire erupted instantly.

Automatic weapons roared through the sewer, bullets tearing through equipment, metal, and concrete.

Sparks flew wildly. Some rounds struck the tentacles, others shattered machinery, sending showers of electricity into the flooded tunnels.

Before the first bullets reached him, Dr. Otto reacted.

Two tentacles ripped an entire brick wall from the sewer lining and dragged it in front of him like a shield.

He turned his head briefly—just long enough to see one of his instruments burning and hissing.

Boom!

Two free tentacles seized the failing device and hurled it forward.

Midair, it exploded into a ball of flame.

Gunfire continued relentlessly.

The brick wall didn't last.

After ten seconds of sustained fire, it collapsed into rubble, smoke and dust swallowing Dr. Otto's position.

"Cease fire!"

With Fick dead, a new officer assumed command. Guns remained raised as the police advanced cautiously.

Through the haze, Dr. Otto appeared motionless, slumped on the platform. His tentacles lay still.

The sewer platform stood above shallow water. One by one, officers waded forward, water barely reaching their knees.

Then—

The tentacles moved.

Two of them shot upward, anchoring into the ceiling and yanking Dr. Otto's body tight against it.

The other two seized thick electrical cables ripped from the tunnel walls.

Without hesitation, Dr. Otto plunged the live cables into the water.

Zzzzz—!

The current surged outward.

Every officer collapsed instantly.

Silence followed.

Dr. Otto descended slowly, landing on the platform. Expression unreadable, he picked up a pair of goggles from the remaining equipment and slid them over his eyes.

Without looking back, his four tentacles carried him away, spider-like, vanishing into the tunnels.

---

Above ground, George Stacy gripped his radio.

"Fick, report status!"

No response.

"Anyone down there—respond immediately!"

His chest tightened.

"Billy, go down and—"

Boom!

The street exploded.

Concrete burst apart as Dr. Otto erupted from the sewer, mechanical limbs launching him skyward.

"Medical teams! Rescue below!" George shouted. "Everyone else—stop him!"

Dr. Otto heard him.

One tentacle ripped a parked vehicle from the street and hurled it forward.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Cars flew like missiles.

Fire, smoke, and shattered metal turned the street into a warzone.

By the time police reinforcements and armed helicopters arrived, Dr. Otto Octavius was gone.

---

Abandoned Shipyard.

Batman ate quietly, following his strict dietary plan.

Weeks of relentless training had already changed his body. With the enhancement of the Batsuit, his height had exceeded one meter eighty, and his physical development showed no sign of stopping.

Tonight, however, he wasn't training.

He was upgrading.

Wearing goggles, Batman dismantled the Batsuit piece by piece.

The Bat helmet came first.

Night vision.

Thermal imaging.

Sonar mapping.

Gas filtration.

Miniature radio receiver.

Each component was resized, reshaped, and embedded seamlessly, with the helmet's internal padding re-engineered to support the added systems.

Night combat efficiency increased exponentially.

The boots were next.

Standard combat footwear was discarded. Batman integrated reinforced armor salvaged from the Spider-Slayer, added retractable ice skates beneath the soles, and installed a Bat-signal transmitter.

The skates could provide rapid movement on smooth surfaces—or become weapons in emergencies.

The gauntlets followed.

Blades were replaced with stronger, sharper alloys. Electrostatic adhesion systems were installed, alongside controlled discharge modules.

Even though Peter Parker could cling to walls naturally, Batman prepared for failure at all times.

Batarangs.

Gel explosives.

Rope saws.

Painkillers.

Tranquilizers.

Adrenaline shots.

Noise emitters.

Hemostatic spray.

Every tool was cataloged, balanced, and stored with precision.

The utility belt was replaced entirely—upgraded to the latest U.S. military tactical system, capable of handling the increased load.

Inside the gauntlets, Batman added miniature hacking computers, granting instant access to networks, cameras, and software wherever he went.

By the time the clock reached 10:00 PM, everything was ready.

Batman armored up.

Without hesitation, he fired a modified Batarang grappling system, launching himself into the night toward Osborn Group.

As he swung across the city skyline, the radio embedded in his helmet crackled to life.

"Breaking news—Dr. Otto Octavius has escaped after killing more than thirty police officers in the Brooklyn sewer system."

Batman's grip tightened.

The hunt had officially begun.
