Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Confrontation with the “Mayor of New York”!

"This is Duke!"

"This is Duke!"

"This is Duke!"

As the point difference narrowed, the atmosphere among the fans ignited instantly.

They all stood up, shouting Duke University's signature cheer.

At this moment, they also realized—

Kai Chen's appearance was not a signal of Duke University's surrender!

Nor was it a sign of Oklahoma University's victory!

"Kai's three-pointer hits again!"

"This young man from China isn't soft-hearted at all!"

On the sidelines, even the commentator was fired up by Kai's two three-pointers.

It's boring to watch Oklahoma University dominate.

A game needs twists and turns to be exciting!

Oklahoma University attacked. From the top of the arc, Trae Young used a teammate's screen to shake off his defender and launch a three-pointer, but it clanked off the rim.

Duke University seized the opportunity, pushed into the frontcourt, and settled into a half-court offense.

The center received the ball with his back to the basket, clumsily backing down step by step.

The defender behind him was forced back repeatedly, frowning as he reached out to interfere.

His rhythm was disrupted instantly, and Trae Young, who had been lurking on the wing, seized the chance to snatch the ball from his hands.

Grayson Allen was quick-eyed and quick-handed, sprinting forward to secure the loose ball. Just as he was about to shoot, he spotted Kai Chen on the left three-point line, calling for the ball with both arms outstretched.

This time, he chose to trust Kai Chen!

Kai Chen caught the ball and showed no hesitation, shaking off his defender with a few quick moves before driving straight into the restricted area.

His fearless playing style not only earned his teammates' trust but also prompted them to clear space for him.

Kai Chen charged straight to the basket, leaving his defender far behind, and took off directly beneath the rim!

Oklahoma's center tried to rush over to block, but was firmly sealed off by the center, unable to move an inch.

On the other side, Trae Young was pulled away by Grayson Allen.

Only Kai Chen remained under the basket!

Facing an open rim, how could Kai Chen pass up such a chance to perform?

He leapt off one foot, as if stepping on air, his body light as he rose, switching the ball from his left hand to his right.

With his right hand, he hammered home a one-handed tomahawk dunk!

"Boom!"

After completing the dunk, Kai Chen turned menacingly, a sharp, awe-inspiring aura radiating from him.

The Duke University arena erupted in an instant, thunderous noise surging skyward.

"He doesn't just shoot threes—he can throw down a one-handed tomahawk dunk too?!"

"Who the fuck is this guy!?"

"We still have a chance!"

58:70!

On the next possession, Oklahoma University committed a passing turnover.

Duke University capitalized, pushing past half-court. This time, Grayson Allen proactively ran to the top of the arc to set a screen for Kai Chen.

Immediately afterward, Duke's backup point guard threaded a pass through the defense to Kai Chen.

"Bang!"

With the ball in his hands, Kai Chen didn't even fully set his feet before rising decisively to shoot.

"Swish!"

The basketball traced a perfect arc and dropped cleanly through the net.

At the same time, an Oklahoma University player rushing out to contest collided with Kai Chen, knocking him to the floor. The referee's whistle sounded.

And one!!

"Ah!!!!!!"

Seeing the referee's hand signal and the ball swish through the net, Kai Chen could no longer suppress his emotions.

"God!"

"If Kai Chen makes the free throw, that'll be his 11th point of the game!"

"By himself, he's put together an 11–0 run!"

On the Duke bench, his teammates were completely stunned.

Just moments ago, they had been trailing by 20 points!

Yet after Kai entered the game, he scored 11 straight points on his own, cutting the deficit to single digits in one fell swoop.

"Is this really still Kai Chen?"

Head Coach K muttered softly, clearly not having expected it.

At the team's most critical moment, the one who stepped up was their "waterboy."

Oklahoma University possession.

From the top of the arc, Trae Young used a screen to shake free and launched a long-range three.

"Clank—"

"Swish!"

The ball kissed the front rim before dropping in.

61:73.

Trae Young's three-pointer broke Oklahoma University's scoring drought.

Switching from defense to offense, Duke University advanced past half-court, and the fans along the sidelines erupted in surprise.

"What?"

"Oklahoma University has changed its defensive strategy—they're having Trae Young guard Kai Chen?"

"As the team's star player, Trae Young's move is respectable."

"But with the height difference, you have to wonder if this is a terrible choice!"

The two commentators exchanged remarks at the table.

Oklahoma University clearly understood that limiting Kai Chen was the key to securing their advancement.

"You can shoot pretty good."

Guarding Kai Chen closely, Trae Young acknowledged his opponent's accuracy before adding, "But your performance ends here!"

"Ends here?"

"Who decided that?"

Kai Chen looked down at Trae Young, who was a head shorter, feeling momentarily confused. As he spoke, he took the ball from his teammate.

Even without the system's boost, Kai Chen was confident he could score on Trae Young just by exploiting the height mismatch.

What's more, now he had the system.

Ball in hand, Kai Chen began to dribble.

As he considered how to finish the possession, Trae Young suddenly pressed hard to his right.

The right side was the preferred driving lane for most players.

Facing the lunge, Kai Chen pulled the ball sharply back to his left.

Amid gasps from the crowd, he exploded forward. His powerful first step and frightening acceleration allowed him to blow past Trae Young in an instant, appearing inside the free-throw line.

Trae Young was left several steps behind!

Seeing Kai Chen burst into the paint, the opposing center panicked and rushed over to cut off his path.

But Kai Chen was already airborne. He calmly released the ball, lofting it over the center's head and into the basket.

"Swish!"

63:73!

Back on offense, Trae Young's desire to attack intensified.

Though Kai Chen had barely played before this game, Trae Young could already sense his uniqueness from the past few possessions.

He now wanted nothing more than to beat Kai Chen and see his expression when Duke was eliminated.

From the top of the arc, Trae Young used a screen, drove hard, and sliced into the paint.

Kai Chen's defense was perfectly timed, never letting Trae Young shake him.

Under the basket, the two jumped simultaneously, Kai trying to deny the layup.

Though Kai Chen contested the shot, Trae Young flicked his wrist mid-descent, tossing the ball softly toward the rim.

The ball arced over Kai Chen's outstretched arm and dropped cleanly through the net.

"Swish!"

After landing, Kai Chen glanced at Trae Young on the floor and shook his head slightly.

He truly lived up to his nickname—the "Mayor of New York"—able to score even in such a situation.

Out of respect, Kai Chen extended a hand to help Trae Young up.

Trae Young accepted the gesture. A faint smile appeared on his usually serious face, and as he turned to run back on defense, he patted Kai Chen on the backside in encouragement.

Duke's ball.

Kai Chen attacked again!

With the ball at the top of the arc, he drove straight toward the basket, pushing through Trae Young's defense.

Despite Trae Young's excellent positioning, Kai Chen's change of direction was too sudden. He shook him off cleanly, stepped into the paint, and finished with a reverse layup over the opposing center's outstretched arm.

Trae Young responded immediately, bringing the ball up himself and pulling up for a mid-range jumper over Kai's contest.

"Swish!"

The ball arced beautifully through the air, dropping straight through the net.

A few seconds later, Kai Chen answered.

He released the ball quickly, using nearly the same move.

Trae Young was momentarily stunned by Kai Chen's release speed.

Yet the stronger Kai became, the more it fueled Trae Young's competitive fire.

The scoring duel between the two sent the live audience into a frenzy.
