The Intruder's True Intentions
Once Lane was finally out of sight, Oliver climbed out of the hole.
A few broken pieces of wood slid off his shoulders and fell to the floor. He brushed the remaining splinters from his clothes before straightening his back. A quiet sigh escaped his lips.
His gaze shifted towards the direction Lane had disappeared.
For a moment, he simply stood there.
He wasn't in a hurry to move. His mind was still occupied with everything that had just happened.
He hadn't expected the intruder to give him so much trouble.
That woman was far more capable than he had initially assumed. She was quick, had excellent reflexes, and knew how to conceal her presence. Even during their brief confrontation, she'd managed to catch him off guard several times.
She certainly wasn't an amateur.
There was genuine skill behind her movements. Her reactions were sharp, and she seemed to know exactly when to advance and when to retreat.
