Chapter 186 - The Club Resumes

Alexander looked around the Great Hall.

The silence, the stunned faces, the unconscious professor on the floor—everything looked exactly the way he expected.

He dusted off the imaginary dirt on his robe.

"Professor McGonagall," Alexander said calmly, "could you please take Professor Lockhart to the Hospital Wing? He got hit pretty hard."

Nearby, McGonagall walked onto the platform.

She crouched down beside the unconscious Lockhart and quickly examined him.

For a brief moment, a smile appeared on her face.

She hid it immediately.

Standing up, she adjusted her robes.

"Mr. Chen, I believe you are correct. I will take him to the Hospital Wing."

She paused before adding in a proud tone.

"And I must say… good job. I see you have been reading my notes and practicing."

Alexander gave a confident grin.

"Of course Professor, I am after all, a star student."

McGonagall flicked her wand.

"Wingardium Leviosa."

Lockhart's unconscious body floated gently into the air. She guided him off the dueling platform and walked toward the exit of the Great Hall.

Once she left, Alexander clapped his hands once.

"Alright, let's resume class."

He looked around at the students.

"I believe everyone enjoyed and learned a lot from that duel."

The moment he said that, the students erupted into cheers and excited shouting.

"THAT WAS AMAZING!"

"Did you see the barrier?!"

"Lockhart got destroyed!"

Alexander raised his hand.

"Settle down, everyone."

Slowly, the hall quieted again.

"First years with me."

He turned toward Flitwick.

"Professor, can you handle the upperclassmen? Same as last year."

He continued calmly.

"Focus on Protego and Expelliarmus. Otherwise, use slowing spells. Make sure to give them advice on their form and magic control."

Standing nearby, Filius Flitwick nodded happily.

"Of course, Mr. Chen."

Flitwick gathered the older students, quickly pairing them up.

Soon, the sounds of spells and dueling filled the Great Hall again.

Meanwhile, Alexander led the group of first years to another side of the hall.

The young students looked nervous but excited.

Alexander folded his arms.

"Before dueling, you must understand magic."

He paced slowly as he spoke.

"Magic is not about power. It is about control and precision."

He stopped and looked at them.

"Everyone here should already know Lumos."

Several students nodded.

Alexander raised his wand.

"Lumos"

At the tip of his wand, there was a bright stable light.

"I will now teach you the counter-spell."

"Nox."

The light from his wand instantly disappeared.

"We will play a small game called Lumos and Nox later."

The first years looked curious.

Alexander explained the rules.

"Turn on your wand light with Lumos. Your opponent must use Nox to remove it. Move, dodge, think. Take turns being either using Lumos or Nox."

He demonstrated the spells slowly.

Then he allowed everyone to practice.

Students began casting.

"Lumos!"

"Nox!"

Some lights flickered weakly. Some didn't turn on at all.

Alexander walked around correcting them.

"Wrist straighter."

"Pronounce it clearly."

"Focus your magic."

After a while, he noticed the first-year students constantly looking toward the older students dueling nearby.

Alexander sighed.

"Listen up."

Everyone quickly turned to him.

"You are first years."

His tone became firm.

"If you cannot even master Lumos and Nox, don't even think about dueling this year."

The students immediately looked embarrassed.

Alexander then turned toward a red-haired girl.

"Ginny. Step forward."

Ginny Weasley quietly walked forward.

"Remember the Lumos and Nox game?" Alexander asked.

She nodded.

Alexander smiled.

"I'll start."

"Lumos."

His wand lit up.

Ginny quickly reacted.

"Nox!"

The light vanished.

Alexander said, "Good Job! You have improved, much better than Ron."

Ginny's face turned a little red, but Alexander pretended not notice.

He said, "Let's play a few rounds, Ginny. To make sure your classmates understand."

They began running lightly around the area, casting Lumos and Nox at each other, trying to remove the other's light.

The first years watched excitedly.

After several quick rounds, Alexander stopped.

"Alright."

He looked at the class.

"Pair up. Be careful of your surroundings."

The first years quickly began playing the game themselves.

Soon, laughter and shouting filled their side of the hall.

Alexander looked back at Ginny.

"Come here."

She walked over.

"You've already mastered Lumos and Nox."

"I'll teach you Protego."

Ginny's face lit up with excitement.

Alexander calmly demonstrated the shield charm and slowly explained the wand movement and magical focus.

She practiced several times.

"Good," Alexander said. "Keep practicing."

He then left her to continue practicing while he walked around correcting other students' Lumos and Nox spells.

After some time, Alexander went to check on the older students.

Over near the dueling platform, students were actively casting spells at each other.

To Alexander's mild surprise, Harry and several second years were already casting Protego and Expelliarmus successfully.

Some younger students were still struggling.

Harry had stepped forward to help them.

He patiently explained wand movement and timing.

Alexander watched quietly for a moment.

Just like in canon…

Harry was very talented if someone guided him properly.

And he was also a surprisingly good teacher.

Alexander crossed his arms thoughtfully.

Maybe next year I should make Harry teach the first years.

Then Alexander sighed.

If only Harry weren't so stupid and actually focused on his spells… he could be great.

He shook his head.

Oh well. Not my problem.

Alexander then joined the upperclassmen. He began correcting their form and spelling control.

Many students eagerly approached him.

"Alexander, can you teach us Transfiguration for dueling?"

Alexander shook his head.

"Maybe in the spring semester."

He spoke calmly.

"After Christmas, I should be proficient enough to teach and guide you."

He paused before adding,

"If not, I will ask Professor McGonagall to help teach."

The students nodded eagerly.

The dueling club continued late into the evening, filled with spells, laughter, and intense training.
