Chapter 149 - Gifts of the Hidden Sanctuary

The world twisted, and with the familiar tug of a Portkey, Alexander felt his feet slam gently onto solid ground once more.

Mr. Chen stretched slightly and glanced around the quiet countryside.

"Come on," he said. "We still have to drive from here."

Alexander nodded.

They located the concealed vehicle nearby and took off flying while activating the invisibility function on the vehicle.

Flying low and discreetly across the rural landscape.

They couldn't fly directly to their destination.

Too dangerous as too many people were after the man they were visiting.

And more importantly, after his magical creatures.

Everyone knew that he lived somewhere in Dorset.

Hidden.

Protected.

Untraceable.

After about an hour of travel, they descended near a secluded property.

From the outside, it looked normal, but once passing through the barrier.

It was a magical world filled with magical creatures.

The Scamander family home.

Mrs. Scamander greeted them with a gentle smile as the Chen family landed their flying vehicle.

"Welcome back."

Then she looked at Alexander fondly.

"He's waiting for you. Go on—inside the briefcase."

Alexander's eyes lit up instantly.

"Really?!"

Without waiting another second, he ran inside the house.

The moment he stepped through the case—

He felt it again.

That sense of boundless wonder.

The interior stretched endlessly—forests, rivers, mountains, habitats carefully designed for countless magical species.

No matter how many times he has been here.

He would never stop being amazed.

A familiar chitter caught his attention.

He looked down.

A Niffler was waiting for him.

Alexander grinned and flicked a gold galleon into the air.

The Niffler caught it and ran off.

"Hey! Get back here!"

Laughing, Alexander chased after it as they dashed through the living sanctuary.

They passed grazing creatures.

Glowing plants.

Winged beasts resting in the trees.

Eventually, the Niffler slowed near a forest clearing.

Alexander tossed another galleon.

The creature happily accepted it and pointed a tiny paw deeper into the woods.

"…Guide fee, huh?"

He followed.

Soft lights shimmered ahead.

At first, Alexander thought they were magical fireflies—

But as he stepped closer…

His eyes widened.

Fairies.

Dozens of them.

Tiny glowing beings fluttering around a single figure standing in the clearing.

Alexander ran forward in excitement, but he scared them.

They scattered instantly, hiding among branches and leaves.

The man in the center turned.

"Hello, Alex."

"Hello, Mr. Scamander!"

Alexander beamed.

"When did you get fairies?!"

Newt laughed softly.

"Well… the wife and I were on a walk one day when a fairy approached us asking for help."

He gestured gently toward the trees.

"She was pregnant. Something had been hunting her."

"We took her in. She gave birth shortly after."

Alexander's eyes sparkled.

"That's amazing…"

Newt chuckled.

"I actually planned to gift her to you—but I didn't realize she was pregnant at the time."

Alexander perked up instantly.

"So… am I getting fairies?"

Newt smiled.

"Yes. All of them."

Alexander froze in pure joy.

"All… of them?"

"They'll live with you," Newt continued. "You can bring them to the Forbidden Forest to play. From what I know, there is a small fairy population there."

"Their leader promised they'll always return to you—as long as you care for them properly."

Alexander nodded rapidly, barely containing his excitement.

"I will!"

"Come," Newt said. "Let's prepare your forest."

They left his briefcase and entered Alexander's briefcase.

Newt immediately began inspecting the environment.

They went to a certain part of the forest, and he began working.

He adjusted plant density.

Enhanced moisture charms.

Altered light flow.

He explained dietary needs, social structures, and nesting habits as he worked.

Alexander listened carefully to every word.

After a while, Newt stepped back, satisfied.

"I know you want to name their leader."

Alexander grinned.

"Yeah… I do."

He looked at the tiny glowing fairy hovering nearby.

"I'll name her… Tinkerbell."

Newt smiled warmly.

"A fitting name."

"Now, let's go see your troll."

Alexander led the way proudly.

The habitat opened into a reinforced valley enclosure.

And there—

Sat the mountain troll.

Calm.

Relaxed.

When it saw them, it waved happily.

Silver ran forward to greet it, chatting happily.

The troll immediately lay down obediently.

Newt looked impressed.

"You've done excellent work."

He examined the area.

Protective charms.

Structural reinforcements.

Behavior conditioning signs.

"And he listens," Newt added. "Very good."

Alexander nodded proudly.

"We named him Dumbo."

Newt raised a brow slightly.

"…Charming name."

He conducted a full physical examination—checking muscle density, skin condition, magical response, and temperament.

After some time, he stepped back.

"Healthy. Very healthy."

Silver patted Dumbo's arm and told him he could go play.

Dumbo stood up happily and lumbered off.

Just then—

Copper came running toward them.

"Dinner time!"

Alexander perked up instantly.

Newt chuckled.

"Perfect timing."

Together, they exited the briefcase—

As they stepped out of the briefcase and headed toward the house, Alexander suddenly paused.

"Oh—wait, Mr. Scamander."

Newt turned back.

"Yes?"

"I almost forgot. I want you to check on something else."

Newt's eyes twinkled with curiosity.

"Lead the way."

They re-entered Alexander's briefcase once more, this time heading toward the pondside sanctuary he had prepared.

Soft mist hovered above the water.

Moonlight-like illumination charms reflected gently across the surface.

And near the shore—

Two small figures grazed peacefully.

The baby unicorns.

They looked up the moment Alexander approached, trotting over and nuzzling him affectionately.

Newt's expression softened immediately.

"Well now…"

He slowly approached, careful and respectful.

The foals didn't shy away—clearly comfortable in their environment.

Newt began a gentle examination.

He checked their coats.

Their horns.

Their eyes.

Magical aura flow.

Hoof condition.

He even observed their interaction with the lake water and the surrounding flora.

After several minutes, he stepped back with a pleased nod.

"They're thriving."

Alexander let out a relieved breath.

"Really?"

"Excellent habitat. Clean water source. Proper emotional bonding. You've done remarkable work."

Alexander smiled proudly.

Then, after a brief pause, he added casually—

"If they have babies in the future… I'll give you one."

Newt blinked in surprise.

"You would?"

Alexander nodded.

"Of course. It's only fair."

For a moment, Newt said nothing.

Then his face broke into a wide, genuinely happy smile.

"That… would be a wonderful honor."

He gently patted one of the foals again.

"I'll look forward to that day."

The baby unicorns trotted playfully around them, their soft light reflecting across the lake—

Sealing the quiet promise between magizoologists, young and old.
