Chapter 91 - Halloween Eve Show

Right at the end of the Halloween eve feast. The first sign that something was about to happen was the fog.

It rolled into the Great Hall slowly — thick, silver, and unnatural — spilling beneath the doors like living mist. Conversations died down as students looked around in confusion.

Then the doors burst open.

Ghosts flooded in.

Leading them were Nearly Headless Nick and The Bloody Baron, both drifting at alarming speed, cloaks billowing behind them.

"MAKE WAY!" Nick cried dramatically.

"HAUNTING IN PROGRESS!" the Baron boomed.

First years screamed.

A few Hufflepuffs ducked under tables.

Slytherins reached for wands on instinct.

The tension peaked—

—then shattered instantly when Nick spun in midair and said.

"Ladies and gentlemen… welcome… to my Head Detachment Magic Show!"

With a flourish, he grabbed his own head… and pulled.

His neck stretched grotesquely.

Students gasped.

The rest of the Ghost started to show off their many talents.

Fear melted into roaring laughter.

That was when phase two began.

From the ceiling—

—spiders dropped.

Hundreds of them.

Large, hairy, writhing illusions that fell directly onto the tables.

The hall erupted into chaos.

Students screamed, jumped, overturned goblets.

One Slytherin let out such a high-pitched shriek that caused the entire hall to froze… then they burst into laughter when they realized the spiders were fake.

Even some professors hid smiles.

Before the noise could settle…

The pumpkins moved.

Every floating jack-o'-lantern in the hall lifted at once — rising into the air and forming a massive spinning circle near the enchanted ceiling.

The hall went quiet in awe.

Then suddenly—

The pumpkins charged.

Straight toward the High Table.

Professors reached for wands—

—but the pumpkins stopped ten feet away, hovering in formation.

Then they spoke.

In chorus.

"PROFESSOR FLITWICK — MAGNIFICENT SPELLCASTER!"

"PROFESSOR SPROUT — BOTANICAL QUEEN!"

"PROFESSOR MCGONAGALL — TERRIFYING BUT FAIR!"

Applause erupted.

Then the pumpkins rotated…

Facing the darker end of the table.

Their carved faces twisted.

"PROFESSOR SNAPE — NEEDS HAIR POTION!"

"SMILES CAUSE MEDICAL EMERGENCIES!"

Students howled with laughter.

After hearing the floating pumpkins slander him, Snape whipped out his wand, ready to cast a spell if they spoke another word about him.

The pumpkins stopped and moved onto their next target.

They turned toward the stammering Defense professor.

"QUIRRELL — SUSPICIOUS TURBAN!"

"DEATH EATER ALERT!"

The hall lost all composure.

Even Ravenclaws were wiping tears from their eyes.

After delivering their insults and praise, the pumpkins calmly floated back to their original positions… still whispering rumors as if nothing had happened.

Just when students thought it was over—

Candles fell.

Hundreds of them dropped from midair, landing upright along the tables.

For half a second…

Nothing happened.

Then fireworks exploded from every candle tip — shooting sparks into the enchanted ceiling in brilliant colors.

Gold.

Blue.

Crimson.

Silver.

The hall glowed like a festival sky.

After several minutes, the fireworks stopped.

The candles calmly lifted… and returned to their normal floating positions as if obedient soldiers.

Next came the House tribute.

Pumpkins drifted again, this time table to table.

Over Gryffindor — a deafening lion's roar echoed through the hall.

Students pounded tables in pride.

Over Hufflepuff — playful badger growls and chuffs made everyone laugh.

Over Ravenclaw — sharp crow calls rang out, elegant and regal.

Over Slytherin — deep serpentine hisses coiled through the air.

Each table cheered as their symbol's sound played.

Then the pumpkins returned to their posts once more.

At the High Table, reactions varied.

Headmaster Dumbledore was openly amused, eyes twinkling behind his spectacles. He made no move to stop the spectacle.

Beside him, Professor McGonagall wore a stern expression…

…but her lips twitched more than once.

She was secretly enjoying it.

Professor Flitwick looked utterly fascinated, whispering to himself about spell layering and illusion synchronization.

Meanwhile, Argus Filch stood near the wall…

Crying.

Actual tears.

Because he knew he would be cleaning everything afterward.

Then the finale began.

The lights went out.

Total darkness filled the Great Hall.

Students hushed instantly.

At the entrance doors—

Three silhouettes stood.

Alexander, Fred, and George.

All three stood there tall and with big smiles on their faces and arms crossed.

Every pumpkin in the hall suddenly flew toward them, circling the trio in a blazing orbit of orange light.

Then—

A spotlight charm ignited overhead.

Revealing only them.

Candles floated behind their backs — fanning outward like radiant wings.

Gasps filled the hall.

Then cheers.

Thunderous applause erupted from every table.

The trio bowed in perfect synchronization.

Then they turned and ran away.

As the doors shut behind them, the pumpkins and candles returning to their normal places as if nothing had happened at all.

But the memory—

The laughter.

The chaos.

Another legendary Halloween Eve—

Would live in Hogwarts for years.
