Chapter 89 - Motion in Memory

The next morning, owls swooped through the Great Hall, letters and packages dropping into plates and goblets.

Students were still buzzing about the match, about the fireworks, and most of all… about Cho Chang.

Alexander sat beside her, already finished with breakfast.

Cho, however, was still glowing from yesterday's win.

Alexander reached into his robes.

"I have something for you."

Cho blinked. "For me?"

He placed a small stack of enchanted photos on the table.

Her eyes widened instantly.

The first enchanted photo showed her mid-air — hair whipping behind her, hand stretched forward as the Golden Snitch fluttered inches from her grasp.

It looped perfectly — the exact moment of capture.

The second enchanted photo made her hand fly to her mouth.

It was Alexander running toward her from the stands, with the Ravenclaw students running behind him. The picture froze at the moment he reached her — his lips forming the word Congratulations as he pulled her into a hug.

Students in the background were blurred, but the focus was unmistakable.

Just him and her.

The third enchanted photo was taken from behind them.

They stood side-by-side, hands clasped together, watching the victory fireworks explode across the sky. The colors reflected in their hair and robes made the scene look almost unreal.

The last enchanted photo showed her celebrating with her teammates — lifted into the air, laughing freely.

Cho watched them over and over again.

Then she looked up at him and said.

"You… you made all these?"

Alexander nodded. "Copies too. For you to send home. I have my own set. My parents will want to see school activities."

Her eyes softened at that.

For a moment, she didn't speak.

Then — before he could react —

She leaned over and kissed him on the cheek.

Right there.

In front of everyone.

The table went silent for half a second.

Then—

"GASP!"

The Weasley twins had just walked up behind them.

Fred clutched his chest dramatically.

"George… did you see that?"

George wiped an imaginary tear. "I did, Fred. Our little Ravenclaw prodigy… kissed first."

Fred turned to Cho. "Scandalous behavior."

George nodded solemnly. "Absolutely improper."

Then Fred grabbed George's shoulders. "Kiss me, too, George. I feel left out."

George recoiled. "Not in front of everyone!"

They immediately began making exaggerated smooching noises.

Students from the other houses turned to watch their little show.

Laughter erupted across the hall.

Even Alexander chuckled.

Cho, meanwhile, buried her face into her folded arms, ears burning red.

"Stop encouraging them," she mumbled into the table.

Alexander stood, grabbed both twins by their collars, and dragged them away from the Ravenclaw table.

"Leave before I enchant your teeth to glow."

Fred grinned. "Worth it."

George added, "Completely worth it."

Still laughing, they broke free and headed toward the Owlery with Alexander and Cho following shortly behind.

Alexander handed Cho her copies.

She carefully selected the best ones and tied them to her owl.

"Make sure my parents see the first one," she whispered to the bird.

Alexander sealed his own letters — one set for his parents to enjoy, and another set for his parents to send overseas.

He started to document important moments.

Victories.

Progress.

Memories.

The twins finished theirs last — adding dramatic captions to the backs of the photos before sealing them.

Fred read his aloud:

"Proof that Alexander Chen is not immune to romance."

George added:

"Further research pending."

Alexander flicked his wand.

Both their letters sealed themselves instantly.

"No more reading out loud."

They laughed.

By the time they left the Owlery, the castle had fully awakened.

Students hurried through corridors, still whispering about yesterday's match — and now this morning's kiss.

Cho walked slightly ahead, still embarrassed.

Alexander matched her pace easily.

"Thank you," she said quietly.

"For the pictures. And… yesterday."

He shrugged lightly. "You deserve it."

She smiled at that.

They reached the classroom doors just as the bell chimed.

Behind them, the twins were still whispering loudly about "historic moments" and "Ravenclaw romance archives."

Cho groaned again.

Alexander just smirked.

Another memory secured.

And many more are already in motion.
