Chapter 52 - The Promised Surprise

Point of View: Genesis

I looked at the leaders and smiled.

"You have fulfilled your part… and I will fulfill mine."

They were still disconnected, lost in their own thoughts. I shook my head lightly before continuing,

"Before the campaign began, I promised you a surprise when we returned… Follow me. I'll show you."

Point of View: Rangar

We followed the Guardian out of the portal chamber.

He stopped and said, "Previously, you had no FD points. That is why you couldn't use Dalaran's facilities. Now you do. However, first…"

He extended his hand, and a floating screen appeared in the air.

"You currently possess a large number of FD points. To simplify their usage, they must be converted into Dalaran's currency."

He snapped his fingers.

A notification appeared:

[Update Downloading...]

[FD Points Conversion Activated]

[100 FD = 1 Copper]

[100 Copper = 1 Silver]

[100 Silver = 1 Gold]

We stared at the screen, still slightly confused.

The Guardian explained calmly,

"This system exists to simplify transactions. Non-ascended beings grant FD points. Ascended beings grant coins according to their level. A Level 1 Ascended grants one copper coin. Higher levels grant significantly more FD points… Trust me, you would not want to see those numbers directly."

He clapped his hands.

The space around us distorted.

When it stabilized, we found ourselves before an enormous altar, easily several meters tall.

"This," the Guardian said, "is the Resurrection Altar. If you die during a conquest, you will be revived here."

We froze.

Sylvanas was the first to react, her voice tinged with excitement.

"Is there any limitation?"

"For now, you will only revive if you die at the hands of a Level 2 Ascended," the Guardian replied. "If the planet ascends, the altar will improve."

We approached cautiously.

When I touched it, a notification appeared:

[Do you wish to register your soul signature to the altar?]

The Guardian nodded.

"Say yes."

I accepted.

Another notification appeared:

[Level 1 Ascended Entity – Cost: 1 Silver Coin]

I paid without hesitation.

A faint pain pierced my chest.

Then my name appeared upon the altar's surface, engraved in glowing letters before slowly fading away.

Sylvanas frowned.

"What if I don't have the required coin?"

"That is normal," the Guardian answered. "The higher your level, the greater the registration cost."

He clapped again.

The world twisted.

We appeared inside a vast hall filled with endless shelves of books.

"This is the Library," he explained. "Whenever you conquer a planet, all of its information will be compiled here. Furthermore, you will be able to create Arts… provided you pay the necessary cost."

Lysera's eyes widened.

"Create Arts? I thought they were lost…"

"They were," the Guardian said. "But the Library can recreate and improve them."

"Perfect!" Lysera exclaimed. "Now I can truly live up to my noble title."

I narrowed my eyes.

"What exactly are Arts, Guardian?"

"Do not worry," he replied. "In a few days, the system will distribute all relevant information, and this place will become fully operational. For now… let me show you another location."

The space shifted once more.

We appeared before the entrance of a towering structure that pierced into the sky.

"This is one of Dalaran's two towers," the Guardian said. "The Cultivation Tower has nine levels, each corresponding to a stage of ascension. If you cultivate here, your progress will be far faster than anywhere else on the planet."

"How much does it cost?" I asked.

"Twenty-five coins corresponding to your ascension level. The other tower—the Training Tower—costs the same. There, you may practice whatever you desire."

Finally, he transported us to a spacious hall filled with crystalline tables.

"This is the Transmutation Hall. If you place objects from other planets upon these platforms, they will transform into Origin Energy Crystals. If you pay the required coins, you may refine them into usable treasures."

I nodded slowly.

"This… is truly useful."

"Good," the Guardian concluded. "With that, I shall leave you. I have been absent for two years. There is much I must attend to."

His figure began to fade.

Before disappearing completely, he added,

"If you have doubts, simply ask the system. And remember… the Resurrection Altar will not save you from tribulation."

Then he vanished.

We stood there in silence.

Impressed.

And eager to test the power of Dalaran's new facilities.
