Chapter 21 - Echo of the Last Key..

The gray world trembled beneath their feet, and with every movement of the stone pillars, ancient memories surged back to life.

The stone entities—the ancient guardians—began to move slowly, but the weight of their steps was enough to make them feel they were facing an unyielding system.

"They don't see us as enemies," the threshold guardian said in a steady voice. "But as a flaw to be fixed."

The first ancient guardian stepped forward and raised his arm. A network of light streaked across the sky, forming an immense seal that pressed down on the entire space.

Shira felt a weight pressing down on her chest. "What is this energy?... I can't breathe!"

"The Seal of Balance," the guardian replied. "They used it to stop any rebellion before it began."

But Lloyd didn't back down.

He closed his eyes for a moment, then said, "If this world was built to prevent change... then we will break it."

He opened his eyes, and his energy surged forth, but this time it wasn't a blind explosion…

It was a concentrated flow, as if his power was beginning to understand the very nature of the worlds themselves.

He moved with lightning speed, slamming into the ground before the stone guardian.

The rock didn't shatter…

Instead, the light seal above them split open.

Riorno was surprised:

"He struck the system itself, not the body!"

Lloyd smiled faintly:

"I've learned something… Power alone isn't enough.

You must strike at the very idea upon which the enemy is built."

Shira's Transformation

At that moment, the star-shaped markings on Shira's hands began to glow.

She cried out:

"This energy… I know it!"

Small circles of light appeared around her, spinning like miniature stars.

The threshold guardian looked on in astonishment:

"This is impossible… This isn't combat energy.

This is… the language of the Star Makers."

Shira felt the ancient voices speaking to her:

"He who holds the light… can rewrite the paths."

"I… can break the seal!" she said, her voice trembling.

"But only for a short time!"

"That's enough," Lloyd replied immediately.

A Battle of Wills

As Shira stopped the seal, Ryorno charged at the ancient guardians, his dark flames swirling around his fists.

"I will not let a dead past decide our future!"

His blows crashed against the giant stones, but this time they left a mark… because the system that protected them was beginning to weaken.

The Guardian of the Threshold…

Stood in the middle.

He looked down at the ancient versions of himself and said,

"I was once like you… without choice.

But true balance… is not born of obedience.

It is born of will."

He raised his hand, and for the first time, his energy manifested differently—not the energy of constraint… but the energy of liberation.

The space behind him split open, revealing a new passage.

The Message

Before they could escape through the passage, time stood still for a moment.

A deep voice rang out… distant… but clear.

"The key has finally awakened…"

The threshold guardian froze.

He whispered,

"He sensed us…"

Lloyd asked,

"Zebra?"

The reply echoed across the worlds:

"Come…

The path you are taking… is the path I opened for you."

The voice faded.

But everyone understood one thing:

They weren't just getting closer to Zebra…

Zebra was letting them.
