The corner of my lips lifted into a faint, bitter smile.

"Why are we even talking about this?" I said quietly. "It's all in the past now. There's no point discussing it anymore."

I stood up, ready to leave.

I didn't want to continue this conversation.

But Fabian clearly wasn't ready to let it end.

Before I could take another step, he grabbed my wrist.

"You and I still have a lot to talk about."

His grip tightened slightly, and this time he didn't avoid my gaze.

"You protected me during the attack," he said firmly. "That proves you still have feelings for me."

My body stiffened for a brief moment.

But I quickly forced myself to calm down.

I looked at Fabian standing so close beside me. His eyes—those same beautiful eyes I once loved—were filled with regret and something deeper, something aching.

The emotions inside them were so intense that I almost couldn't meet his gaze.

"I think you're mistaken," I replied quietly.
