Persephone arrived for dinner exactly on time, as she had every night since the reunion at the dock, and Penelope met her at the gate with a smile that clearly gave away more than she intended.
"You look like you're planning something," Persephone observed immediately, narrowing her eyes with open suspicion. "I know that face. You used it in half our video calls right before you'd drop something huge on me out of nowhere."
"I don't have a scheming face."
"You absolutely do." Persephone stepped through the gate, glancing around the familiar warmth of the penthouse with the same fondness she'd carried every night this week. "What's going on?"
"Eat first," Penelope said, steering her toward the table where the rest of the family had already gathered, Aurora babbling happily in Erik's arms, Kai and Ben mid-argument about something involving the fish they'd apparently failed to catch earlier. "We'll talk after."
