Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: The Expedition Begins

While Kaido prefers using lightning, followed by storms and then fire, Yamato has no such preference. She uses fire, lightning, storms, and clouds alike. Since these are all her own abilities, she believes it is better to use them all flexibly.

As for her combat moves, they are similar to Kaido's. Yamato hasn't come up with many variations yet. However, there is one thing that differentiates her from her father: Yamato focuses more on the control of power. She believes that no matter how great a power is, the skill to control it is indispensable. With refined skill, power can be exerted perfectly, and the same logic applies to Haki.

After all, Yamato is a woman, and a beautiful one at that. She refuses to be like Kaido, engaging in messy close-quarters combat whenever she meets an enemy, trading punch for punch.

At the foot of the mountain sat a small wooden hut. This was Yamato's residence while she trained here. Looking closely, one could see that the ground at the foot of the mountain had sunk, and the surrounding area was the same. This was caused by Yamato training here for so long; a thick layer of the earth had been scraped away, making the ground much firmer and more compressed.

Not far away, there were also huge blocks of Sea Stone. The largest were over ten meters high, and even the smallest were seven or eight meters high. These Sea Stone blocks were special equipment used by Yamato for training. Those she had used previously had already been discarded and shipped back to the Mining Camp. Every time Yamato's strength increased, these Sea Stone blocks would be replaced, along with the weights on her body.

"It's almost time to end this. Having trained here for eleven long years, I'm actually a bit reluctant to leave," Yamato said, her gaze softening slightly as she looked around.

Now, Yamato no longer needed to continue training here. What she needed was real combat and experience to continue growing.

"Just stay with me for these last few days," Yamato whispered as she walked into the wooden hut.

Three days passed, and the Transponder Snail on Yamato's person rang.

"Hello, is this Second Uncle?" Yamato asked as she picked up the receiver.

"It's me, Young Master. The expedition has begun," King's voice rang out.

"Okay, I'll be there right away," Yamato replied. She put away the Transponder Snail, stood up, and walked out of the hut. Taking a light breath, she turned and left, her pink haori fluttering as she walked away from her long-time home.

Onigashima was bustling. Yamato arrived quickly and saw that all the high-ranking officers of the Beasts Pirates, including most of their subordinates, were already prepared.

The lineup was formidable: Governor-General Kaido, the three Disasters, then Black Maria, Haruko, Sasaki, and Who's-Who, and finally Yamato—a total of nine powerhouses. As for the siblings Ulti and Page One, they were still a bit too young. It wasn't appropriate for them to join the expedition, so they stayed behind to guard Onigashima.

Excluding the personnel needed to garrison Onigashima and Wano Country, all other subordinates of the Beasts Pirates would go on the expedition, totaling about 1,600 people. Compared to the peak period of the Beasts Pirates in the future, the current numbers were still relatively small; eventually, they would reach tens of thousands.

"Young Master!" the subordinates called out one after another upon seeing Yamato arrive.

Yamato nodded to them and then looked at Kaido at the very front. "Old man, do you remember what I said?"

"Stop your nagging, we're setting off," Kaido snorted. This stinky brat never missed a chance to dig at him. He wasn't a fool either; he had long since developed reflexes specifically to deal with Yamato's attitude.

"Fine," Yamato nodded, then looked at Jack. "Jack, for this expedition, we three great beauties will ride on your ship. Feel honored."

"No, I don't feel honored at all. Go ride on someone else's ship," Jack replied, glancing at Yamato.

Yamato didn't mind. This guy had challenged her before and ended up being flattened by a single move; he was probably still holding a grudge.

"Jack, I know you're all bark and no bite. You must be saying the opposite of what you mean because you're too embarrassed to agree directly. Don't worry, don't I know you well enough? I'm riding on your ship," Yamato said, walking over to pat his arm.

Jack's eye twitched. He could feel that Yamato's entire body was radiating Haki. He thought to himself, This person is doing it on purpose. With Haki like this, who would dare to get close? Ordinary people's legs would go weak just by being near her.

"Maria, Haruko, let's go. To Jack's ship!" Yamato called out.

"Jack, we'll be in your care then," Maria added with a smile as she stood beside Yamato.

Haruko did the same. "Lord Jack, please take care of us."

Looking at the three of them talking to themselves, the veins on Jack's forehead throbbed. It was one thing for Yamato to ignore him, but even Maria and Haruko were following suit. It was simply too much.

"Not bad, Jack. You actually got the Young Master to call you out by name," Queen laughed.

"This is fine. Let the Young Master and the others go with your ship, Jack," King added. He knew that if Kaido and Yamato were on the same ship, they might end up fighting, causing endless trouble. It was better to separate the father and daughter.

"Second Brother, Third Brother, it's not like that..." Jack started to explain.

But King and Queen gave him no chance. "Jack, you don't need to say anything. We understand."

"Alright, enough nonsense. Set off!" Kaido shouted, waving his hand.

"Ohh!" the subordinates shouted loudly, their momentum like a surging rainbow.

Seeing this, Jack had no choice. He glanced at the three female officers, feeling a massive headache. Among these three women, except for Haruko, he couldn't suppress the other two at all. He was furious inside, but his face remained expressionless. He knew if Yamato saw his frustration, she would surely mock him.

Led by Governor-General Kaido, the Beasts Pirates set off. There was a special route for going out to sea from Wano Country. The location of Wano was very peculiar, surrounded by massive waterfalls. If outsiders wanted to enter without a guide, they had to climb the falls, which was dangerous and often led to the destruction of the ship.

"So this is the special passage," Yamato noted as they took an elevator down to an underground river.

Massive pirate ships were docked at the shore, all flying the flags of the Beasts Pirates. One of the ships belonged to Jack, featuring his unique ivory emblem on the bow.

"Board the ship!" Jack ordered. Subordinates carried supplies onto the decks.

"Open the gate!"

The guards responsible for the entrance opened the heavy mechanism, and light shone into the underground river.

"Set sail! Weigh anchor!" Kaido commanded.

The subordinates sprang into action, and the pirate ships began to move. Over a dozen ships rode the river water and entered the open sea in an instant.
