Chapter 5 - Ooo's Bestiary: Rainbow

As I went down the hill, I began following a narrow trail through the forest.

After a while, the dead woods gave way, and autumn revealed itself in shades of orange and amber.

The walk was unnervingly quiet, as if no animals lived there at all.

"Help!"

Hm?

"Someone, please help me!"

Should I help?

He might be injured.

Following the direction of the voice, I activate my vision as a precaution.

Through it, I see a reddish figure collapsed on the ground, slowly dragging itself forward.

Strange. Its color is different from the others…

"Please… someone!"

I turn my vision off and step closer.

I stop when I notice something on the ground.

A boot, lying at the end of a trail of blood.

I follow the trail, now more cautious.

"Wait, please, n—"

The voice is suddenly cut off.

I guess it's too late now.

I activate my vision again to understand what happened.

A long figure now looms over the one I saw before, its color slowly fading.

This new figure's color is intense — stronger than any I've seen so far.

Peering over a few bushes, I finally see its true form.

What is that?

The creature had the head of a horse, a single horn jutting from its forehead.

A unicorn?

No…

Its body was long and vividly colored, like a living rainbow.

As if a unicorn and a rainbow had merged into a single being.

Incredible.

Yet despite the creature's beauty, something horrifying lay at its feet.

A human…

His body was torn apart, his eyes frozen wide in terror.

His jaw was shattered — clearly broken by the creature to silence him.

His clothes were completely torn apart. I don't understand why…

Hm?

The creature seems to have noticed me.

"뭘 그렇게 보고 있어? 내 얼굴에 뭐라도 묻었어?"

(What are you staring at? Did you lose something on my face?)

Uh?

That's…

Korean?

"넌 참 이상하네… 너 같은 건 처음 봐."

(You're strange… I've never seen anything like you.)

I just stand there, staring at him in confusion.

If I had known it would be useful, I might have tried learning other languages.

Still, as if noticing my confusion, the creature merely shrugs before returning to its meal.

Well…

I turn my back and head for the forest trail again.

After all, I wasn't about to fight over a carcass.
