The next day, Jason woke up bright and refreshed, anticipation for the day to begin. He did feel a bit strange as he slept, knowing very well he wanted to be sleeping on earth, but on a different planet altogether; survival was the only choice on his mind.
He got up from the bed and went into the bathroom to have a hot shower. As he bathed, he thought that if the water were different, would it have an effect on his body or poison him? After he finished, he checked ked his body and found out he was still the same.
That was a relief and he was satisfied. Everything looked the same on this planet, only it was different from Earth in size, resources, surroundings, and atmosphere. Immediately, he put on the clean uniform, combed his silky light brown hair, and then made sure the room was in order before he left.
As he walked, he remembered the people that came with him, some teenagers, some young and middle-aged adults, he knew he wasn't going to see most of them again, he could hardly reach their faces. But he certainly knew that they must have been assigned for various duties that would help them survive in Blasmora.
He stepped into the elevator and pressed for the reception floor, as the elevator reached its destination he stepped out and handed the key to the receptionist and walked out, holding his National Identification Card and walked to the Hover Bus Stop.
"The soldier said it's free for me since I'm a student at Astreus Academy. " Jason muttered. "But I need to confirm that first."
He noticed a machine with a small blue screen beside him as he stood at the Hover Bus Stop. He pressed his card to the machine and it came alive, scanning the card before a loud ping was heard. The mechanical gates opened and a Hover Bus carrying a few passengers parked. He quietly got on the bus as it took off.
He sat quietly thinking about what Asterix Academy was all about. Where are they going to teach him on hiw go ge a soldier? Was it similar to High School that he didn't finish? Who even created the academy in the first place?
Twenty minutes later, the Hover Bus had arrived at Astreus Academy and he finished quietly. As the bus elevated and disappeared, he looked up and began to inspect the Academy. It was impressive, to say the least. A towering building with blowing blue mirrors, clear manicured grounds with gardeners still hard at work, drones and flying devices zoomed through the air like flies and mosquitoes, teenagers his age in their uniform, both male and female ps discussing with one another.
Jason breathed in fresh air before he made his way to the reception. He walked in to see a young man in a black suit, focused on what he was typing in a holographic interface computer.
"Good morning," Jason spoke first.
The man didn't look up. "Your name, student. "
"Jason Xenophyte, sir," Jason answered.
The man nodded, typed into the computer reached into a drawer beneath him, and removed a key and a small white card.
"Your room is E-550 on the fourth floor of the dorm house." The man spoke audibly. "Your roommate is already there. Have a nice day."
Jason muttered a thank you and walked into the entrance to the school. As he stepped in, a loudspeaker reverberated through the hallway.
"Good morning students of Astreus Academy, you are all required to attend the entrance ceremony for all students of this prestigious academy. It is mandatory. The venue is the auditorium which will be shown shortly. Thank you."
Jason waited for the directions and they showed on a screen. He immediately made his way to the venue and arrived in five minutes. He walked in quietly and made his way to a seat and sat. All around him were students, some conversing loudly, some sitting quietly, but the whole room was noisy.
"Yo, mind if I sit here?" A voice snapped Jason from the thoughts he had gotten lost in.
He looked up to see a young man, clearly his age or older grinning broadly at him. He was tall, had dark hair cut into a fade, twinkling green eyes, and freckles on his right cheek. He had this mischievous air around him and at that moment, Jason felt he was going to run into this guy a lot.
He shook his head. "I don't mind. You can sit."
The boy grinned and sat beside him immediately, then stared at his whole surroundings. He then turned back to Jason, his eyes focused on his neck. "Nice chain." He commented.
Jason looked down at the chain hanging around his neck. It was the colour red and silver with a small X. He had been wearing it as long as he could remember. He was certain his parents gave it to him, even though he could not remember their names or their faces.
"Thanks," Jason replied smoothly.
The boy grinned then stretched his balled-up fist. "The name's Kenny Boom."
Jason reciprocated the fist bump with a small grin. It didn't hurt to make friends in this place. "Jason Xenophyte."
Kenny raised his eyebrow in surprise. "Jeez, no offence but that's a very weird surname. "
Jason wasn't offended at all. "I know. Learned to live with it."
Suddenly, a woman walked up to the stage and immediately the whole hall went silent as they gaped at the individual with stunned eyes. It was a woman and she was absolutely stunning. She was of average height, with blonde hair and cyan eyes, her body was stunning, molded into the night-fitting suit that left little to the imagination. She looked like she was in her forties but it did not diminish her beauty.
Kenny breathed beside him. "Damn."
As the woman spoke, her voice was like music to the ears. "Good morning, students. My name is Alicia Strangford but you must call me headmistress. It is my deep honour to welcome you to Astreus Academy, a place created to breed intelligence, courage, honour, and to create future leaders and warriors that will bring prosperity and success to Blasmora."
"Yes, we lost Earth to the dreaded Pragichoros. We failed to protect the planet we have lived on for centuries. It is a big blow to humanity. And yet, we've been given a chance to start over, to learn from our mistakes and maybe one day we will be strong enough to reclaim Earth once more."
She looked at the crowd before her, her face firm and determined. "The rules will be given tomorrow and I hope you all have an eventful, educative and fun experience. Thank you."
There was loud applause as she stepped off the stage and then everyone immediately dispersed from the auditorium to their various classes. Jason got up and noticed that Kenny had left. He immediately began to leave the auditorium to go to his class.
On his mind, he wondered what the class was going to be about and he hoped he was ready for it.
