Ralph went back from hunting and shut the door so loud, he forgot that he's no longer alone in the castle. He hopes that the new maid didn't hear him slamming the castle door. Although he subconsciously used his hyperspeed to go upstairs. As if he's scared to be seen by the woman he hired to be his maid. He rolled his eyes when he saw the broken glass in his room. The maid may still be asleep so he decided to just clean it up himself. He will not stay up just to wait for the maid to clean up this mess.
It's a nuisance hiring someone who can't even do things for him. Although he's the one who made the rules for Arabelle to follow. He still feels irritated about cleaning up his mess. After sweeping the glass shards, he just placed it in a dustpan. Maybe Cassie can deal with it if she visits the castle. She has been a good assistant to him but she wanted to experience life and travel before she becomes a vampire. He almost forgot that she's on her vacation right now. She might be in Spain by now living her best life. While he has to stay in this castle with a human.
"Hello! Anyone here?" Arabelle shouted that echoed around the castle.
When she heard the main door getting shut, she decided to go out and check. She can't sleep anymore after that nightmare she had. Even after tossing and turning for several hours, she can't go back to sleep. What if it's an intruder? It struck her all of a sudden. She nervously listened to silence. Maybe it's just her boss but she will not even recognize him. He never showed himself to her until now so she wouldn't even know if it was him who entered the castle. What if she goes up to the second floor? At least she knows her boss stays up there.
Ralph suddenly got frozen in place as if scared to be discovered. Why would he be scared from being seen by the maid? He straightened up himself and decided to go out of his room. Maybe it's time for them to meet each other. He can't stop it from happening since they are living under one roof. While thinking, Arabelle is already going up the grand staircase. She's trying to muster all her courage to just get up on the second floor. Maybe he will not get mad at her for breaking one of the rules. It might be an emergency and she will be forgiven somehow.
Buzz…buzz…
Arabelle almost tripped when she suddenly heard the doorbell buzzing. It's still too early to have any visitors around but maybe not. She looks at her wristwatch and it's already six in the morning. How could it be if she went out at 4AM? It means that she lost two hours trying to climb that staircase. Although she couldn't believe it, she decided to go down to get the door. It might be the delivery Cassie told her about. She went down the stairs with no issue and opened the door. A friendly old man greeted her. He made a courtesy with his hat as well.
"Good morning, miss!" the old man said.
"Hello there!" she replied with a smile. She looked at the coolers the man brought.
"I'm delivering a total of ten coolers. I will deliver more by next week. Please sign here." the old man explained.
"There you go. I'll inform my boss. Thanks!" she said after signing the delivery form.
"Your boss might be very sick to need that much blood every week." the old man commented.
Before Arabelle could reply, the old man already went on his way. She was left dumbfounded by the delivery guy's comment. That's why the delivery is all inside the coolers because it's blood. She doesn't know what it's for though and it's not her job to ask. Even if she felt curious what those blood bags are for, she just decided to take them inside one by one. There are ten large coolers so she dragged one at a time. Cassie didn't inform her that she will be waiting for a blood delivery.
Ralph felt relieved when Arabelle didn't make it upstairs. He's also happy that the delivery has been made. It means that he doesn't need to go out to hunt anymore. The maid seems like she's not as curious as she seems. She didn't even ask a lot of questions from the old man. He was his blood supplier for fifty years now because he's discreet. It's the first time he commented about the amount of blood he needs. Maybe he needs to find another supplier soon. He can't risk anyone finding out about his existence. It will be deadly for everyone.
"Sir, are you here?" Arabelle asked loudly that brings him back to the present.
He didn't reply because he didn't know if he should even talk to her yet.
"Sir, I'll just leave the coolers at your door." she said when she didn't hear any reply.
That's good. At least she's not going to keep on trying. Ralph is not even ready to face her much more to talk to her. He's not sure if he's even ready to answer her questions if ever. It's better to just wait for a while before he shows himself to her. Although he doesn't know when he might be ready. Even her voice sounded like Sofia's which makes him feel his guilt more. He convinced himself that it's his fault that's why she died.
Arabelle finally on the tenth cooler that she needs to bring to the second floor. Although they are not that heavy, going back and forth makes it harder. She places the last cooler in front of the door. Before she let go of it, she didn't notice that there's a sharp edge on the handle. When she let go of the cooler, she got a small cut on her index finger. She immediately checks on it and it forms a small circle of blood on its tip.
Ralph suddenly smells the blood but not the ones inside the cooler. Nothing beats the blood coming out from a live human he thought. If there's one thing that will make him come out of his room, it's fresh blood. He didn't
even think about who it's from but decided that he will be drinking fresh blood from a human. Arabelle was shocked to see a pale but handsome man coming out of that room.
