Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 – First Sparks

Later that evening, Ethan found himself pacing his office, unable to focus. He hated that her voice still echoed in his mind, that the tilt of her chin in defiance haunted him.

She was trouble. Dangerous, uncalculated, unpredictable. And he wanted her.

He heard a knock. His assistant peeked in.

"She's here," the assistant whispered, not meeting his gaze.

Ethan froze. Lena had wandered into his private domain unannounced. And instead of anger, a thrill ran through him.

"I thought we were done for the day," he said, trying to sound authoritative but failing to mask the edge in his voice.

"I needed answers," she replied. "And I don't take no for an answer."

By the time she left, he couldn't stop thinking about her. Every glance, every word, every little spark had lodged itself in his mind—and in his heart.
