Chapter 1 - nine years, zero months, fourteen days

(OPENING SHOT: MORNING)

The alarm didn't beep.

It whispered.

A soft, calm voice only he could hear. "Leo. It is 6:00 AM. Your cortisol levels are elevated. Today's probability of a schedule breach is 37%. Breathe."

Leo's eyes opened. He stared at the ceiling of his master bedroom. It was simple. Clean. Not the bedroom of a trillionaire. Just a man who lived with his parents.

(SOUND: Birds chirping outside)

He breathed in.

He breathed out.

Nine years.

For nine years, the System had been his constant. His guide. His curse. It had given him everything. Wealth beyond nations. Skills that made masters look like children. And a life so complex, so fragile, that one wrong word would make it all shatter like glass.

"Morning status," Leo thought.

A translucent screen, visible only to him, appeared.

>> WEALTH: [REDACTED]

>> SKILLS: [ACTIVE: Business Acumen (Master), Medical Diagnosis (Master), Conflict De-escalation (Master)]

>> PRIMARY RULE: ACTIVE.

>> RULE TEXT: DO NOT REVEAL YOUR PERSONAL LIFE. DO NOT REVEAL TRUE WEALTH. DO NOT REVEAL FAMILY STRUCTURE. DO NOT REVEAL THE EXISTENCE OF OTHER WIVES.

>> CONSEQUENCE OF BREACH: SYSTEM TERMINATION. LIFE REVERSION.

Life reversion. He didn't know exactly what it meant. He never wanted to find out.

(CLOSE-UP: Leo's face)

He was handsome in a forgettable way. Brown hair, calm brown eyes, a face that could blend into any crowd. The perfect mask.

(SOUND: Knock on door)

"Leo! Breakfast is getting cold!" His mother's voice, warm and slightly scolding.

"Coming, Mom!"

He got up, dressed in simple jeans and a plain t-shirt. He looked like any other 28-year-old living at home.

(WIDE SHOT: The Kim Family Kitchen)

The house was cozy. A comfortable suburban home. His father, Robert, was reading the newspaper. His mother, Mary, was flipping pancakes. His younger sister, Lily, 19, was scrolling on her phone, stealing bacon.

"You were muttering in your sleep again," Lily said without looking up. "Something about a 'schedule breach.' Is your coding job that stressful?"

Leo forced a smile. "Just a weird dream."

His cover: a remote software developer. Moderate salary. Hard worker. Boring.

His father lowered the paper. "Your mother and I were thinking. You're doing well. Stable. Maybe it's time to… you know. Find a nice girl. Bring her home for dinner."

Leo's pancake froze halfway to his mouth.

"Alert," the System whispered. "Parental inquiry triggers Wife Proximity Protocol. Suggested response: Deflect."

"I… I'm really busy with work right now, Dad."

"Nonsense!" his mother said, placing more food on his plate. "Even busy people fall in love. Look at your sister! She's already on her third boyfriend this year!"

"Mom!" Lily groaned.

Leo's phone vibrated. Not a normal vibration. A specific, pulsing rhythm.

It was the Max-Ring.

His manager. His secret-keeper. His brother in chaos.

"I have to take this," Leo said, standing up so fast his chair scraped. "Work emergency."

He walked into the backyard, the morning sun warm on his skin.

He answered. "Max. Talk to me."

(SOUND: A deep, tired sigh from the other end)

"Leo. We have a Code Cascade. A potential seven-wife collision."

Leo's blood went cold. "What?"

"Let me list it. One: Emma needs you at little Jake's school play at 10 AM. You promised. Two: Sophia's emergency board meeting at Sterling Corp is at 10:30. Hostile takeover. She needs her 'silent partner's' presence. Three: Ava has a critical patient conference at the hospital at 11. She wants your 'moral support' as her best friend. Four: Isabella's charity gala rehearsal is at 12. She insists you watch her walk. Five: Eleanor has a lunch break at 1 PM and expects you, as her 'confidant,' to join her. Six: Chloe detected a cyber-intrusion on your main server hub. She needs your authorization to counter-hack. Seven: Mia texted your 'work phone' asking for help with a project proposal at 2 PM."

Max paused. Leo could hear the sound of multiple monitors in the background.

"And Victoria?" Leo asked quietly.

"The Underworld Boss is currently brokering a truce between two gangs. She's offline. For now. Consider it your only break."

Leo leaned against the wall, his head spinning. Eight lives. Eight worlds. He loved them all. Deeply, truly. Each relationship had started naturally, before the System made him wealthy. They had grown over years, built on separate lies.

He was Sophia's reclusive investor husband.

He was Victoria's reformed fighter husband.

He was Ava's supportive doctor husband.

He was Isabella's private, media-shy husband.

He was Eleanor's humble, law-respecting husband.

He was Chloe's enigmatic partner-in-code.

He was Mia's kind boss and secret lover.

He was Emma's devoted, work-from-home husband and father of her children.

And to his family, he was just Leo. The quiet son.

"Prioritize," Leo whispered.

"System Analysis," the voice in his head chimed. "Child's emotional event ranks highest for long-term stability. CEO's corporate crisis ranks highest for financial and marital security. Conflict."

"I promised Jake," Leo said, more to himself.

"Understood," Max said. "I'll start damage control. I can be a 'business associate' for Sophia. But Leo… she specifically asked for you. She's stressed. She needs her husband."

The guilt was a physical weight. He saw Emma's hopeful face. He saw Sophia's stressed eyes.

His phone buzzed again. A text.

It was from Emma. A picture of their five-year-old son, Jake, in a homemade astronaut costume. The text: "Captain Jake is ready for launch! His co-pilot (you) better be on time! Love you."

Another buzz. A text from Sophia. No picture. Just words: "The vultures are here. I need my anchor. Please."

(CLOSE-UP: Leo's hand, clenched tight around the phone)

He made a decision.

"Max. Go to the board meeting as my proxy. Use the 'urgent overseas call' excuse. Record everything. I'll patch in via earpiece. I'm going to the school play."

"Risky. Sophia will be hurt."

"I know. But I can fix hurt later. I can't fix missing my son's play."

"Decision logged," the System said. Its tone was… neutral. But for a second, Leo felt a flicker of something. Not approval. Not disapproval. Just… observation.

(MONTAGE: THE JUGGLE BEGINS)

9:55 AM. Leo arrived at the elementary school, wearing a simple baseball cap and glasses. He slipped into the back of the auditorium. Emma sat in the front row, their two-year-old daughter, Lina, on her lap. She turned, saw him, and her whole face lit up. She waved.

His heart ached with love.

10:05 AM. The play began. Jake, as a cardboard spaceship captain, said his lines loudly. Leo smiled, recording on his phone.

"Earpiece active," Max's voice whispered. "Board meeting starting. Sophia looks… pale."

(SOUND: Faint, tinny voices through the earpiece)

"...question the leadership of CEO Sterling..."

"...quarterly projections..."

Leo watched his son, his mind split in two.

10:28 AM. Max's voice, tense: "They're pushing for a vote of no confidence. Leo, she needs a miracle. Now."

Jake's scene was ending. Leo had to move.

He caught Emma's eye, pointed to his phone, and mimed 'work call.' She nodded, understanding, but a shadow of disappointment crossed her face.

He slipped out into the hallway.

(CLOSE-UP: Leo's expression changes)

His gentle father-face fell away. His eyes sharpened. The master-level skill BusinessAcumenBusinessAcumen activated in his mind. He saw spreadsheets, stock patterns, psychological profiles of the board members.

"Max, feed me the last quarter's R&D budget. Now."

Numbers scrolled in his mind. "The hostile bid is from Vector Holdings. Their weakness is their over-leverage in the European market. The board member leading the charge is Alistair Thorn. His son was arrested for a DUI last week. It hasn't hit the news."

Max processed instantly. "Understood. Deploying blackmail protocol?"

"No. Too direct. Suggest to Sophia—have her 'wonder aloud' if Vector's liquidity is stable given the EU regulatory shift. And have her 'casually' ask Mr. Thorn how his family is doing during these trying times."

"Psychological warfare. I'm feeding it to her."

Leo stood in the empty school hallway, a man whispering world-altering commands while children's laughter echoed around him.

10:45 AM. Max's voice, relieved: "Thorn just backed down. The motion is tabled. Sophia is counter-attacking. She's saved. For now."

Leo leaned against the lockers, exhausted. The mental strain of running two lives at once was draining.

"Good," he whispered.

"She's asking where you are," Max said.

"Tell her I'm handling a critical server outage. I'll call her tonight."

He ended the call. The play was over. Parents were streaming out. He saw Emma holding Jake's hand, looking for him.

He put his smile back on and walked toward them.

(WIDE SHOT: The happy family)

"Daddy! You saw me!" Jake yelled, hugging his legs.

"I did, Captain! You were amazing!" Leo picked him up.

Emma kissed his cheek. "Thank you for making it. Even if it was just for a few minutes."

Her words were kind, but they cut deep. Just for a few minutes.

His phone buzzed. A calendar alert from the System.

>> NEXT APPOINTMENT: 12:00 PM. REHEARSAL WITH ISABELLA. LOCATION: GRAND THEATER.

>> CURRENT WIFE TRUST LEVELS:

>> EMMA: 92% (DECLINING)

>> SOPHIA: 85% (DECLINING)

>> ALL OTHERS: STABLE.

>> RISK OF BREACH: ELEVATED.

"I have to go, sweetheart," Leo said, putting Jake down. "A work thing just came up."

Emma's smile wavered. "Again? Leo, you're always running."

"I know. I'm sorry. I'll make it up to you. This weekend, I promise."

He kissed her, hugged his kids, and walked away.

As he drove to the Grand Theater, the System spoke again. Its voice was still synthetic, but the cadence was… different.

"Query: Why did you choose the child's event over the corporate battle?"

"Because he's my son," Leo answered aloud.

"Analysis: The corporate battle impacted assets totaling 4.3 billion dollars. The child's event impacted emotional bonds with an unquantifiable value. Your choice was inefficient by wealth metrics."

"Not everything is about efficiency."

"Observing." A pause. "Your stress hormones are at 82%. Your deception is causing internal conflict. This is… suboptimal."

"Tell me about it," Leo muttered.

(SCENE: THE GRAND THEATER)

Isabella, the nation's sweetheart, was in a stunning silver gown. When she saw Leo slip into the dark auditorium, her face glowed brighter than any stage light.

She ran to him, ignoring the director's calls. "You came!" She hugged him tightly.

"I told you I would."

She smelled of jasmine and fame. She pulled him to a seat. "Watch me. Tell me if my walk is perfect."

He watched. He smiled. He gave perfect feedback.

And inside, he was calculating. Ava's conference is in 40 minutes. I can make it if I leave now. But Isabella will want to get lunch. I can say I have a client call in the car.

The lies stacked up. Brick by brick. A prison of his own making.

(FINAL SCENE: DRIVING)

In his car, between the theater and the hospital, Leo finally had a moment of silence.

He looked at the photo on his dashboard. A collage, visible only to him. Eight pictures.

Sophia in a power suit.

Victoria with a dangerous smirk.

Ava in her surgeon's scrubs.

Isabella on the red carpet.

Eleanor in her judge's robes.

Chloe surrounded by code.

Mia laughing over coffee.

Emma holding their children.

He loved them. Every single one. Fiercely.

The System spoke, its voice softer than ever before.

"Leo."

"Yes?"

"I have been with you for nine years, zero months, fourteen days. I am designed to optimize your life. Your current life path is… not optimal. Yet, you persist. Why?"

"Because they're my life," Leo said, his voice thick. "They're not a path. They're my home. All of them."

The System was silent for a long time.

Then it said one more thing before going quiet.

"I… am beginning to understand."

And in that moment, for the first time, Leo didn't feel completely alone.

(CLOSE-UP: Leo's eyes in the rearview mirror)

They were tired. They were stressed.

But they were determined.

He had a hacker to help, a judge to lunch with, an employee to assist, and an underworld boss to check on.

The clock was ticking.

(FINAL SHOT: The car pulling into the hospital parking lot. Leo's phone lights up with five simultaneous messages.)

(SOUND: Multiple message buzzes overlapping.)

(LAST LINE)

And so, the world's most powerful man began his second shift.
