In the dead of the night, after partying all day and his apartment is back to being empty as it used to be. Lucien held a cup of tea in one hand as he sat silently on the sofa gazing at the phone in the other,the last notification on his phone arrived at 11:47 p.m,
No service. he frowned, "That's strange..." .
Network issues were normal in lagos. but this felt different, his phone froze,lights flickered, Then everything went dark.
No hum, noise or signal, darkness swallowed the room, car horns blaring outside, people shouting,dogs barked then one by one they stopped.
Lucien stepped onto his balcony, the enter skyline was black, the street lights were off, the street was plunged into darkness and silence.
Suddenly, his phone vibrated and his screen turned on itself, a single message written on his phone screen " can you hear me?".
Lucien's heart was beating fast as he typed back " who is this?". three dots appeared, Typing....
Then a whisper filled his head. "You were was always listening."
he dropped the phone, but the voice stayed and whispered again. "Helps us rebuild.....or watch it burn."
Far away, something massive shifted beneath the Earth.
And the Apocalypse truly began.
