Dan laughed, forced but real enough, "Yeah, well, time to plan a wedding, I guess," and he glanced at me, that half-alpha side probably screaming inside about the commitment, but he was rolling with it, for himself, for his mom.
Everyone started talking at once, my mom pulling out her phone, "We need a date, venues, oh, Sky, what about that garden spot we saw last year?" and Dan's dad nodding, "Keep it classy, for the connections, right?"
But then Dan's mom cleared her throat, all smiles but with that determined glint, "Hold on, before we get too ahead, I have a request…. actually, more like a condition, since I'm the one pushing this hardest."
