Chapter 18 - Poor, Pitiful, and Helpless

The Young Nobleman was stunned by Quinn Ye's comment.

She looked down at herself.

Ouch!

I really forgot about that.

The cross-dressing "nobleman" blushed slightly, but she quickly regained her composure.

"It doesn't matter if I am a man or a woman."

"What matters is that I want to continue hearing your story."

"As long as you tell it well and make me happy, I will reward you heavily."

Her tone was arrogant, as if she were granting Quinn a heavenly favor.

As if it would be rude for Quinn not to kneel and thank her immediately.

Quinn looked at her with a weird expression.

"Big Sis, I am not a professional Storyteller. If you want to hear stories, go to the teahouse."

With that, Quinn hugged his rabbit, called Big Fuzz, and turned to leave.

"Stop!"

The Young Nobleman shouted coldly.

The four servants behind her immediately surrounded him.

Blocked on all sides, Quinn had nowhere to run.

The four servants looked fierce and menacing, cracking their knuckles as if to threaten him.

They had already seen that Quinn was just a mortal with no cultivation fluctuations.

They could crush someone like him with a single finger.

The Bald Rabbit in Quinn's arms winked at Big Fuzz on the ground.

Big Fuzz winked back.

One rabbit, one dog.

They seemed to be communicating.

Rabbit: "Kill them?"

Dog: "Wait and see."

Rabbit: "Alright."

The rabbit continued to act docile, and Big Fuzz remained lazy.

Conversely, their master, Quinn Ye, was scared pale by the situation.

Wait, didn't they say people in this world are friendly?

How did I run into bullies so quickly?

"Don't do anything rash. I have a background!" Quinn said seriously.

The Young Nobleman smiled.

"Do you know who I am?"

Quinn shook his head.

"Doesn't matter if you don't know. Just come back with me. I only want to hear your story; I won't hurt you."

"Take him away."

She waved her hand.

"Let's go."

The four servants glared at Quinn.

Quinn felt helpless.

He was outnumbered and weak. It was better not to resist.

So.

Quinn followed them.

Before long, Quinn saw a very luxurious carriage.

Sitting on the driver's seat was a middle-aged man, seemingly the coachman.

"Young Miss, you are back."

Seeing the "Nobleman," the middle-aged man bowed immediately.

"Mn. I brought back a Storyteller. He can entertain me on the road."

The Young Nobleman got into the carriage.

The middle-aged man glanced at Quinn. Seeing that he had no cultivation, he lost interest.

"Get in."

The four servants shoved Quinn onto the carriage.

"My dog!" Quinn shouted quickly.

"Forget the dog," a servant laughed.

"No! If I go, my dog goes too!"

This time, Quinn was firm and refused to budge.

"Let the dog come," the Young Nobleman's voice came from inside.

Big Fuzz hopped onto the carriage.

However, he had to stay outside with the coachman.

Quinn entered the carriage.

The Young Nobleman was sitting inside, leisurely eating grapes.

"You're a grown man. Why are you holding a rabbit?"

She glanced at the Bald Rabbit in Quinn's arms and laughed.

The Rabbit cursed internally.

If Lord Rabbit didn't prefer a low profile, I would have slapped all of you into paste by now.

"And you're a girl. Why do you like wearing men's clothes and strutting around?"

Quinn retorted lightly.

The Young Nobleman looked at Quinn with surprise.

She didn't expect this weak-looking young man to have such a sharp tongue.

"Young Miss, we are ready to depart," the coachman called out.

"Let's go."

The carriage started moving.

Quinn looked confused.

"Where are you taking me?"

"You don't need to know."

"..."

Quinn thought to himself:

I was kidnapped by force, and you won't even tell me the destination?

What if you sell me?

"Are you bandits?" Quinn asked tentatively.

The Young Nobleman laughed out loud. Pfft.

"If I were a bandit, you would be dead already."

She wiped her mouth with a handkerchief and drank some tea.

"Alright. Continue telling The Legend of the Condor Heroes."

Quinn shook his head.

"If you don't tell me where we are going, I won't tell the story."

The Young Nobleman narrowed her eyes.

"You dare negotiate with me?"

Quinn put on a face that said You can kill me, but you can't humiliate me.

"Fine. I can tell you."

"But after I tell you, I'm afraid I can't let you live."

A dangerous look appeared on her face.

"Then never mind. Don't tell me."

Quinn waved his hands frantically.

At this moment, Quinn Ye was truly poor, pitiful, and helpless.

"Heh. Good that you know your place."

Quinn resumed telling the story.

The Young Nobleman listened intently.

The carriage rocked as it left the market town.

Quinn glanced out the window and noticed they were heading East.

Cloud-Drifting Mountain was to the West of the market.

This meant they were getting farther and farther away from his home.

I shouldn't have come down the mountain to wander around. What do I do now?

Quinn groaned internally.

Soon, Quinn reached the part where Guo Jing and Huang Rong met Hong Qigong, and Hong Qigong taught Guo Jing the Eighteen Dragon-Subduing Palms.

The Young Nobleman seemed particularly interested in this part. She sat up straight, staring at Quinn without blinking.

She was completely engrossed.

"That Guo Jing is so stupid. How did he have such good luck to receive teachings from a Hidden Expert?" she couldn't help but ask.

Quinn paused.

He smiled faintly. "Although Guo Jing is dull, he has a pure and sincere heart. He treats people with honesty and has a chivalrous spirit. Hong Qigong has an eye for character; it was a natural outcome."

The Young Nobleman nodded.

"You're right."

She couldn't help but think of herself.

I wonder if my trip to seek a master will be as smooth as Guo Jing's?

Unknowingly, night fell.

The Young Nobleman was still energetic.

But Quinn couldn't take it anymore.

He wasn't a cultivator. He was used to early to bed, early to rise.

Staying up late made him dizzy.

"Big Sis, can you let me go?" Quinn begged.

"No. Also, do I look old? Why do you call me Big Sis?" she asked unhappily.

Quinn looked bitter.

"Then let me rest for a while. I'm too tired."

Seeing Quinn's sleepy face, she didn't force him.

"Fine. I'll allow you to sleep. But behave yourself. Don't move around, or I'll chop off your hands and feet."

Quinn quickly leaned against the wall and closed his eyes.

While resting, he plotted his escape.

Outside the carriage, the middle-aged coachman's face suddenly changed.

"Young Miss, we seem to have encountered a Demon Beast!"
