With Frostwind stabilized and trade flourishing, Arin turned his attention outward. He knew that power without allies was fragile. Neutral provinces and minor lords could become threats—or opportunities.
Kelsin spread a new map on the table.
"My lord, there are five neighboring provinces. Two are loyal to the Emperor, but three are semi-autonomous and unstable."
Arin tapped the map. "We need allies and influence, not just fear. Find the strongest families in each province willing to cooperate. Offer protection, trade benefits, and training."
Lyra added, "Magic support could sweeten the deal. If we teach young nobles basic mana control, they'll respect us."
Selene smiled. "And military training. A well-prepared province is less likely to rebel."
Over the next month, envoys were sent. Small gifts, trade agreements, and promises of security reached multiple lords. A few rejected him outright, thinking Frostwind was a frozen backwater unworthy of attention.
Arin anticipated this. He allowed their rejection, watching their movements carefully. "Patience," he told Kael. "We'll revisit them after we demonstrate true strength."
Other lords were impressed. Some visited Frostwind personally. They saw the rebuilt villages, disciplined soldiers, and fortified towns. They witnessed Arin leading personally during patrols and training sessions.
At the end of one week, three minor lords requested formal alliances.
"Your administration is… remarkable," one said. "We wish to serve as vassals, under your guidance."
Arin considered them carefully. Loyalty was more important than flattery. He accepted two immediately and set strict conditions for the third.
The system activated silently.

That evening, Arin stood on Frostwind's northern wall, gazing at the snow-covered mountains.
"Step by step," he whispered. "Every ally, every village, every soldier… they strengthen the dynasty."
Kael joined him, holding the latest intelligence report.
"My lord, the Emperor has noticed your expansion beyond Frostwind. There are whispers of jealousy among other princes."
Arin's eyes narrowed slightly. "Good. Let them watch. Let them underestimate me. It will make them predictable."
In the shadows, agents of the hooded figure were already moving, observing Arin's alliances. Every step he took was being recorded, every action analyzed.
The game of power was growing more complex.
And Arin was ready to play.
