Chapter 1 - Reborn In An Instant

Thunder rumbled ominously.

The July rain poured down without warning.

Emily lay in the mud, covered in blood.

Above her, a woman stood with a foot pressed on Emily's back, sneering triumphantly.

"Emily, weren't you always so proud, never willing to bow your head? Fine, I'll break every bone in your body!"

With that, the woman signalled to the two men behind her, who immediately moved to act.

Poor Emily, already tortured beyond recognition, was now barely clinging to life.

Yet, she stubbornly lifted her head, staring defiantly at the woman towering over her.

Her body was filthy with blood, but her eyes shone with am incredible brightness, filled with boundless anger and hatred.

In the stormy night, it was a chilling sight.

The woman flinched momentarily but quickly regained her anger. "What are you waiting for? Throw her in! I want to see how a dead woman can still defy me!"

The two men responded obsequiously, "Yes ma'am."

Then they kicked Emily into the swamp, as if she were nothing but a worthless sack.

Emily knew she was doomed to die today.

Her tragic fate was her won fault, her own stupidity; she couldn't blame anyone else!

But she was unwilling, so unwilling!!!

As her consciousness began to fade, scene from her life flashed before her eyes like a fast-forwarded movie.

Once, she was the cherished daughter of the Wallace family, adored by all.

She only hated herself for being blind, for taking the blame for a fiancé she loved from childhood, even breaking ties with her family for him.

This led to her father's death from anger, her mother's suicide by setting the mansion on fire, and her brother being poisoned into a mute, lifelong fool!

In the end, all she got was her fiancée disdainful words: "Are you worthy?"

Worthy?

How ridiculous!

Darkness closed in from all sides, and at the brink of death, Emily felt no fear, only the urge to laugh at her absurd and foolish life!

But the woman standing nearby delivered one final blow, reveling in her victory.

"Oh, sister, I forgot to tell you. Your father died because I pulled out his oxygen tube, I set the fire at your mansion, I poisoned your brother...

Even your beloved fiancé has long shared my bed..."

"Blame yourself for being stupid, letting me easily swallow your family's fortune, hahaha..."

Already sinking, Emily heard this and her body trembled, her eyes filled with blood, and she let out a guttural roar—

"Wendy Riley, you'll die a horrible death!"

But as she opened her mouth, all that came out were gurgling sounds as the mud flooded her mouth and nose, the suffocating sensation overwhelming her until she was completely submerged.

Everything was gone.

Only the endless hatred remained, burning fiercely, never to be extinguished or dispersed.

Boom— Another clap of thunder echoed.

Emily screamed and finally opened her eyes. Bright sunlight pierced through the leaves, glaring down her face. She found herself lying in a field on the outskirts, drenched and in a sorry state.

This scene...

Emily froze. Wasn't this like the story her grandmother used to tell her. This day was the twentieth birthday of Emmy Reynold! The day she had planned a countryside outing with friends and prepared to confess to her husband, Victor Bryon?

She remembered clearly how Emmy's sincere yet awkward confession was met with Victor's disdain. In front of everyone, he bluntly told her, "Emmy, give it up. Even if you were the last woman on earth, I wouldn't love you!"

Those cruel and humiliating words had left Emmy heartbroken. She ran off alone, got lost, caught in the rain, and eventually tumbled down a small slope, twisting her ankle and passing out.

Recalling Emmy's past actions, Emily felt like hitting someone. How could she have been so foolish?

But as she raised her hand, she noticed it was smooth and unscarred, unlike after Wendy had hurt her. There was no pain from broken bones either.

Wasn't she dead? Hadn't she died in that swap on a rainy night?

Or...

Emily's heart raced as she pinched herself hard. It hurt. The sensation was sharp and real!

She was alive, and she had been reborn as Emmy Reynold!

"Ha! Heaven has eyes..." Emily laughed, and as she laughed, tears began to fall. The memories wasn't a dream. Everything that happened to Emmy was etched deeply in her mind.

In her previous life, she had been foolish, allowing her uncle's family to take advantage, giving her cousin, Wendy a chance to strike!

Now, she understood the dangers of people's hearts! But thankfully, fate had given her a second chance.

Emmy's family's troubles hadn't yet begun, and she had the opportunity to change everything!

She would pay kindness and seek revenge for Emmy's and her wrongs. Everyone who had harmed Emmy would face her wrath in this life!
