Chapter 6 - Chapter Six The Warmth Begins

Isabella

Three days passed before it struck, sudden as flame, heavy with want.

There I stood, inside his library - strange place, filled with dark books from floor to ceiling. It was quiet. My eyes moved across spines while thoughts raced ahead. Finding a map became the only thing that mattered then. Escape plans needed details. So I kept looking. Pages didn't whisper answers. Time passed like footsteps down an empty hall.

Heat rushed into my skin without warning.

The silk robe pressed tight, making my nipples ache. Pain shot through them with every small move.

Wetness spread right away, down below. Right then it started dripping - slow trails on my skin, sliding past my legs.

On the ground I fell, breath gone. Air wouldn't come back just yet.

A warm shine spread across the mark he left on my skin, flickering slow, steady - like something alive beneath the surface.

Heat.

Fucking hell, that bite of his set off my first heat.

On hands and knees I reached the doorway, mind nearly gone.

I needed him.

Something broke loose when he touched me. My body lit up like fire across skin. Every breath felt sharp, too fast. The room spun unless he held on tight. Without him close, the world went dark. His heat kept shadows away. If he pulled back now, everything would stop.

For that, I carried a quiet shame. It sat heavy, like stone in my pocket.

On hands and knees by the hall, fingers scraping stone, my voice broke into sobs - his name spilled out messy, raw. The floor cold beneath me, breath ragged, everything dim except that sound, again and again.

Guards appeared.

Six of them.

Right away, they caught the smell - my warmth spreading through the whole hallway. It hit their noses before anything else did.

Gold crept into their gaze. Their stare shifted, now gleaming like sunlit metal.

A figure moved ahead, tongue flicking across his mouth.

I growled - soft, yet wild.

"Touch me and he'll skin you alive."

They froze.

Out of nowhere, Kai showed up.

He looked deranged.

Gold filled his eyes now. Not a trace of white left behind. His fangs had stretched all the way down. Sharp tips pressing past his lips. Black lines crawled beneath his skin like roots. Dark threads pulsing just below the surface.

The air split open when his voice tore through it. Glass gave way without warning. A single sound cracked everything apart.

The guards ran.

Out of nowhere, he lifted me, holding tight as if I might break. His arms wrapped around, soft but firm, keeping me close without a word.

"I'm sorry," he rasped, voice barely human. "I tried to stay away. I tried to let you hate me in peace."

Foot crashed against the wood, sending the door flying. I landed hard atop tangled sheets. Four days passed before either of us stepped out again.

Fucking animals nonstop for four days straight.

Fingers tangled in my hair again and again until numbers didn't matter.

I lost consciousness while he was still in me - happened more than a few times.

Begging made my voice crack on day three. He kept going anyway.

Tears came - real, raw tears - yet he pushed forward since his body refused to quit.

Fresh air crept in by afternoon when the sun dipped behind thick clouds. That evening, a cool hush settled over the rooftops where birds had gone quiet. By nightfall, people stepped outside just to feel it on their skin.

My body ached when I opened my eyes, skin marked with teeth. Sticky wetness ran down my thighs, traces of him seeping slow, as if used endlessly through the night.

Slumped at the foot of the bed, palms pressed against temples.

"I'm a monster," he whispered.

Back there, I dragged myself close. My hands found his neck, held on tight without a word.

"Yes," I said against his ear. "But you're my monster now."

That moment, his lips met mine as if I held absolution
