Chapter 31: The Mirror of Curse and the War of Memories
Magic of Mist and Darkness
After Liva's mother arrogantly ate another piece of meat, she spread her hands toward the sky. Suddenly, the food and drinks before them turned into a thick, dark black smoke. That smoke covered not only the forest but also the minds of Rina, Diari, and the father. Liva's mother said with a raspy voice, "You think only physical pain hurts? Real pain is when your past becomes your enemy." Within that mist, three large mirrors of shadow appeared, each standing before one of them. "I must kill you with pain. I will hurt you in every way possible. You are in my hands now. I will make you forget your own names. I will kill you through torture because I hate you! You will become our food, Hahaha! Truly delightful! Look Liva, they have become prey in our hands!" Liva replied, "Yes, certainly, they must die from this agony." Rina said in her heart, "They are annoying. They must pay for this one by one. Let them enjoy for now, I know what I will do."
Rina and the Mirror of Torture
Rina looked into the mirror before her, but she didn't see her own reflection. Instead, she saw her mother dying at the hands of Liva and the others. They were torturing her mother in the mirror. Rina screamed, "Leave my mother alone! What are you doing? You monsters! Take my life instead! Why are you doing this? Mother, I love you! Endure it, Mother! Be strong!" Liva's mother whispered into Rina's ear, "See Rina? Your mother is saying 'bye-bye' because of that cursed mark. She's leaving you for the grave, Hahaha! Diari and your father will say the same. All of this is because of you, because you exist." Bloody tears fell from Rina's eyes, and her strength faded. She felt her soul was being torn into pieces.
Diari and Psychological Torture
On the other side, Diari saw himself in the mirror kneeling before Rina, but the Rina in the mirror looked at him with disgust and said, "You are just a burden to us. You made things worse. Look at yourself, you are a failure, a worthless person. Why must you be a burden? If you weren't here, things would be better. You couldn't protect me even once. I hate you! Because of you, I lost my mark. I hate you!" Diari screamed, "Rina, no! Don't say that! I love you more than myself! You are my only one, my life!" Liva kicked Diari's cage and said, "See Diari? The girl you gave your life for thinks of you like this in her heart. Open your eyes; you are just a worthless piece of meat." Diari was broken; he stopped looking at the mirror. The pain in his heart was as great as the pain in his body. He screamed and cried in his heart.
The Father and the Test of Faith
Rina's father saw in the mirror that his daughter had become a monster like Liva's mother, killing innocent people. The shadows told him, "This is the result of your upbringing. Your daughter became a killer and a demon." But the father, though the chains tightened around his throat, closed his eyes and prayed. Liva's mother angrily struck his face and said, "Look! Look at the end of your daughter!" But he refused to believe the magic, even though the pain was so heavy he almost lost his mind.
End of the Chapter: The Enemy's Smile of Victory
Liva and his mother laughed loudly as they saw the three of them struggling within their past pain, almost surrendering. Rina fell to the ground, her hands sliding into the mud. The only sound was Liva's mother saying, "This is just the beginning. You must die from this torture." Rina, in a very low voice only she could hear, said, "Revenge... I must have it." But her eyes were closing from pain and exhaustion.
