I got tired of his questions. It felt like he was digging into me, like he could see through every lie I told. With Azrael around, I kept saying things I was not meant to say, and that scared me.
When he answered that strange question about falling in love, I knew I had crossed a line. He would not warn me next time.
The only reason I asked was because I wanted to know what went wrong between him and Delilah. But that was not my problem. It should never have been.

I looked out the window. The restaurant stood out. It was the only place not built like a castle in the academy.
A few students were outside, talking and laughing. Four cars were parked nearby. It was clear students were allowed to bring their cars.
