Chapter 4 - Chapter 506 Plague

A'Zhu paused slightly, then nodded to indicate she understood, turning to take a deep look at the road leading to the City of Slaughter.

"Now I understand why you and Da Ming kept reminding me. As long as you harbor murderous intent towards this guy and act on it, you'll be warned by the eyes of heaven."

Ning Bei rolled her eyes; so this girl had actually tried it.

"Isn't that obvious? If I could, I would have slapped him to death long ago."

After putting A'Zhu back into the Pill Tower, Ning Bei turned to Qian Renxue.

"Let's go too. This guy shouldn't be coming out for a while. I just don't know if his divine test is complete."

"Hmm, hiding in the City of Slaughter, his divine test should be considered stalled, right? Otherwise, what was the point of stirring up trouble on the continent before?"

The little angel judged that everything Tang San did to establish the Tang Sect was purposeful. In any case, Tang San, now that he had entered the City of Slaughter, should no longer be able to successfully complete his divine test.

The two returned to the Heavenly Frost Kingdom and stayed for several days. Actually, that's not entirely accurate, as the day of

parting was approaching again. For several days in a row, the little angel dragged Ning Bei to the Ice God Temple to rest, letting Ning Bei experience firsthand what angelic tenderness truly meant. All good things must come to an end, and the day of parting finally arrived. The little angel's eyes were filled with reluctance.

"There are still two more divine tests for Abei. After that, we'll never be apart again."

"Okay, my Xue'er will definitely do it."

"Hmph, you don't need to tell me that."

Her proud little expression slightly erased the shadow of parting. After giving Ning Bei one last reluctant look, Qian Renxue immediately entered her Martial Soul Possession state and flew into the distance, without even having the courage to say goodbye.

Ning Bei shook his head helplessly and chuckled, not bothering to chase after her. He wasn't worried about the little angel's safety along the way. Aside from the fact that she was a Soul Douluo-level expert with a 100,000-year soul ring, he had also sensed the aura of the Serpent Spear outside the city, suggesting it was there specifically to wait for Qian Renxue to return together. This behavior of not wanting to be a third wheel deserved Ning Bei's praise.

Salikel was now back under the control of the Heaven Dou Empire, and all that remained was for the imposter Xue Qinghe to send someone to take over. Ning Bei had no reason to stay in the Heavenly Frost Duchy any longer. Leaving behind a Soul Douluo and several soul beasts to guard the Heavenly Frost Extermination Sect branch, Ning Bei, along with Da Ming, A Bao, and others, headed directly back towards Heaven Dou City.

Along the way, Tian Meng's complaining voice echoed again in his mind's eye.

"Hey, your little girlfriend has already completed the seventh trial. Don't let her become a god before you."

"Heh, let's not even talk about how impossible that is. Even if Xue'er becomes a god first, so what? I, Ning, am not someone who can't live off a woman."

"Tch, I look down on you."

Looking at Tianmeng's disdainful expression in her mind's eye, Ning Bei felt a throbbing in her temples. Then, her mind turned to Bingdi,

who was not far from Tianmeng. "Bing'er, Tianmeng looks down on women."

  "!!!!"

As Ning Bei's words fell, the mockery on Tianmeng's face vanished instantly. He felt a chill run down his spine. Mechanically turning his fat head, he saw the green-haired little girl's frosty face.

  "Bingbing'er, you...you listen to me, I...I didn't mean that."

"Oh? Then what do you mean? Why can't that little angel become a god before the Ice God? What are you looking down on the Ice God for? Is relying on a woman shameful?"

  "No, no."

Before Tianmeng could continue her denials, Bingdi immediately stepped forward and used a scorpion tail strike to lock her throat, followed by a brutal and inhumane treatment.

Hearing Tianmeng's screams echoing in his mind, Ning Bei felt a surge of satisfaction. "Serves you right for insulting me, Ning Bei!"

Just when Ning Bei thought this trip would proceed as usual, he was suddenly drawn to the scene below as he passed through a village.

Controlling his movements, Ning Bei slowly landed in the center of the village. The entire village was enveloped in a turquoise poisonous fog, and the ground was littered with the corpses of ordinary villagers. Their faces were sallow and unhealthy, their distorted features indicating the pain and despair they had endured before death.

Looking at the still-liquid corpses, Ning Bei quickly determined that these villagers had only recently died, and perhaps he could find the culprit nearby.

While these toxins are extremely harmful to ordinary people, they can be largely ignored by those with strong soul power. Ning Bei estimated that these toxins could at most cause fatal damage to those below the Soul Master level.

After using his spiritual power to investigate, Ning Bei, who was rushing towards the center of the poisonous fog, was suddenly startled and immediately headed towards it.

A few seconds later, Ning Bei arrived at the location where the emerald green poisonous fog was most concentrated. Looking down, he saw a corpse lying on the ground. The person was emanating green poisonous gas, even their skin was stained green. However, judging from their attire, it was vaguely clear that they were a member of the Tang Sect.

Thinking of this, Ning Bei's expression suddenly changed. He remembered the toxins he had detected on Ma Hongjun. He had initially thought it was just Tang San's last resort to control Fatty, but now it seemed to be much more than that.

"What a vicious heart! Planting the plague in the bodies of all his subordinates, did he already foresee the day he would be betrayed?"

Since this person was dead, there was no point in further investigation. Ning Bei could only continue to use his spiritual power to search the area around the village. Surprisingly, this search led him to a few surviving villagers, who were now gathered by a nearby river, barely clinging to life.

  "Cough cough...cough."

When Ning Bei arrived at the riverbank, all he saw were several pale-faced, sunken-eyed young men leaning against trees, coughing incessantly. They were clearly barely breathing, their lives hanging by a thread. Ning Bei

was certain he wouldn't get anything out of the villagers in this state, so he quickly used his soul power to draw a small amount of water from the river, infused it with the power of the restorative pill, and then controlled the flow to pour the water into the mouths of each villager present.

As the river water entered their mouths, the coughing gradually subsided, and the villagers' pale faces slowly regained some color. They felt their strength returning, and after curiously examining themselves, they got up and looked around.

Ning Bei's handsome face suddenly came into view. Some of the smarter villagers quickly realized what was happening and rushed to Ning Bei's side, kneeling in obeisance.

"My lord, you saved us! Please accept my bow."

This action caused a great stir; following the first person's lead, the others quickly understood what had happened and followed suit, bowing deeply to Ning Bei.

"Thank you for saving our lives, my lord! My poor child couldn't wait for you to arrive! Waaah!"

  "Yes, and my wife too."

  "My old mother too."
