He woke up when the sun rose, and decided to go through everything slowly.
[Furio Ars Notoria]
Body: Stage 1 – Mid
Reflex: Stage 1 – Mid
Magic: Layer 1 - Lowest
Traits: Circuitry of Infinity [EX], The Notary Art [F]
He viewed his status again, analysing it.
His stats seemed pretty mediocre.
His body was 'stage one mid' which he assumed was partially due to the training he received back home.
It was fairly intense specialised training following the common knowledge that a strong body is necessary for a strong mind, so the Notoria family made sure to raise their young by that phrase.
Despite only being thirteen, he was nearly as strong as an average adult male.
His reflex stat was also stage one mid. Once again, he assumed it was probably above the average persons.
And to begin with, considering the regular danger he lived with in his past life, he liked to think that his reflexes were good.
As for his magic, that wasn't overly surprising.
It could be said that in terms of magic 'he was born yesterday'.
He had only just awoken as a first layer mage.
More than his stat ratings, what surprised him more were the traits.
[Dimension Devouring Worm - EX]
[Effect: The host is provided with infinite mana.]
The description was, well, as simple as could be.
But those seven words would send the entire world of magic into a frenzy.
"It's probably best I keep this to myself."
Furio muttered quietly, thinking of all the nonsense that could happen if people learnt about something like this.
Rather than some glorious mage picking him up as an apprentice, it would be more likely that he would be dissected and used as a battery or something equally fucked up.
He'd rather not think about that.
Still, he found himself skeptical of the claim that he had infinite mana.
Wouldn't he basically be a god?
'No, not me.'
"You would be a god."
Looking at the name of the trait, Furio summoned the worm into his hand.
The worm looked up at him and seemed to be doing a small dance.
"...You seem to be in a good mood, huh? So, were you the one that saved me?"
Furio had already known for a long time that the worm was capable of understanding his speech.
The worm stopped dancing and proudly nodded its head.
"Maybe I treated you too harshly..."
A pang of guilt hit his heart thinking of how he had previously bullied the worm when he was being kicked out of the estate.
"I'm guessing you're responsible for the trait as well, no, maybe the whole status window is controlled by you?"
The worm looked at him, it was not as if he could read its expression, but as they were connected, he could feel a vague sense of confusion coming from it.
"I guess that's not the case then."
He was still suspicious, but considering the worm was currently his biggest benefactor, he had no choice but to trust it.
The worm.
'I guess I should name it now, right?'
Although he had been connected with the worm for as long as he could remember, he had never bothered naming it as he assumed it was just some parasite.
All it did was wriggle around when he summoned it, so he didn't think it to be worth naming.
Looking at the endless deep blue hue contained inside the worm, he deicded to name it simply as such.
"From now on, your name is Blue."
Oncemore, the worm, now named Blue, started dancing in elation as it was the first time it had received recognition.
"Speaking of which, are you a boy or a girl?"
Blue looked at Furio with confusion.
"Boy, like me?"
Blue nodded his small worm head.
"Maybe you're just saying that, are you a girl?"
At that, Blue quickly shook his head in disagreement.
"Well, that's an answer, I guess."
Focusing back on the status screen, Furio thought about the trait.
Infinite mana.
Was it truly infinite?
He needed to run his own tests to verify the trait's authenticity later.
As for the other trait, it was a little more descriptive.
[The Notary Art - F
One of Solomon's great arts, the wisdom of Solomon. Enhances functions related to the mind.
1. Remember things well.]
If he were not part of the family, he would find such a trait to be unimpressive, but he knew how far the Notary Art could go.
A true master of the Notary art would be able to instantaneously understand any and all magic circles instantaneously, have an absolute and flawless control over their mana, obtain an innate underestanding of 'all things' as well as providing a perfect mental defense.
It was not as flashy as the arts of the other great families, such as the Goetia family's legendary infernal spirits, but he knew how powerful it was.
After all, his father was one of the five strongest people in the empire, purely because of that art.
In other words, the Notary Art was an excellent trait to have, but unfortunately, Furio had no idea how to progress its path since he had been kicked out of the family.
Furio sat on the ground and gathered his thoughts for a while.
He wasn't the type who would question the blessing he had received.
If God had one day decided to curse him, then he would curse him back, if God had decided to bless him, then he would take it and be happy.
Although, he wasn't sure if Blue could be called anything close to God.
Perhaps it was responsible for the status, perhaps it wasn't, but at the very least, Blue was an immensely powerful creature...
Thinking some more, he realised he had a few options.
Before his... awakening, he was quite literally wandering aimlessly.
Of course, he talked big to Silvia that he hadn't given up yet, but really, it's not like he had any idea of what to do.
He had vague ideas of going out to the countryside and drifting around.
If he needed to work, he could find it, although he was previously incapable as a mage, he still had a noble's education, meaning he could do work such as accounting and whatnot.
But now, considering he had awoken as a mage, the situation was completely different.
Naturally, his first thought was of reversing and going back to his family.
Surely, they would accept him after this.
If it were just a regular magical awakening, it would be one thing, the fussy elders of the family would want to maintain dignity and refuse to reverse the decision.
But if he were to show proof of 'infinite mana' to his father, then the decision would be overturned immediately.
Indeed, it was an okay idea.
But there was one problem that made Furio absolutely against the idea of returning home.
Someone back home had tried to kill him.
Not just tried, but succeeded.
He did not know who it was who ordered the hit.
Maybe an older half sibling, maybe an elder, maybe a lady of the household.
He could not know.
And even if he did know, it was not as if he could re-enter the Notoria family's territory.
In fact, he was scared to even stay in the empire at this point.
What if, when found living again, the same person sent assassins to grind his body into a fine paste?
Maybe it was slightly paranoid, but considering he had quite literally just died, he had every right to be paranoid.
So turning back was not an option.
Then, where would he go?
A neighbouring kingdom?
A simple village on the border of the empire?
'Where could I go that would allow me to gain strength quickly?'
Deep in thought, he was interrupted by a sudden ding.

He stared blankly at the screen.
"Damn."

LOG 3 – SOLOMON
If anyone should be considered the greatest, it would be him. A mysterious mage of unrivalled strength, so great that his birth was a curse and his death was a blessing. When he was born, the balance of the world shifted to match his strength. It is believed that Solomon's magic still lingers in the empire today, which is why those born within the empire have five times the likelihood of awakening as a mage when compared to those outside the empire.
