Chapter 2 - The Curse of Invinciblity.

Once again there was just silence as he stared at Miu, who had just told him that he was in Eldoria, the game he had played. It didn't make any sense at all, at least, not until he realized it.

The thing his mother did, she accepted an invitation. An invitation that had been sent by the game when he was alive, an invitation that had made no sense. He couldn't even move, couldn't even eat on his own, but he got an invitation. And now, everything came together like a puzzle, but maybe it was the worst thing that could have happened… not for him, but for all of Eldoria, because Lucius wasn't just a simple player.

No, he was the conqueror of Eldoria. The man, the myth, the legend who defeated everybody who tried him and that made him quickly not just realize what was happening but to actually calm down.

"Was I isekai'd… like transmigrated into the game?

"In short, yes, in long, no." Miu kept smiling as said it. "You were written into the script as a memorial, but the script became reality, as well as the game, and now you are a character in Eldoria, a character in the endless journey."

Yeah, she said exactly what he was actually thinking, like the mangas and anime he had read and watched when he was able to.

How absurd that is for several reasons and at the same time how exciting it is, absurdly exciting.

"But Eldoria wasn't a VR game… like Sword Art O—"

"Just accept it." Miu said again, raising her voice. "You are in the game as the Last Conqueror of Eldoria! You are real, you are Lucius!" She shouted with joy as she spun around once again, but she didn't realize what she had done with it.

For a moment, Lucius froze, not just because he saw Miu's fat ass again, but because it was now an entirely different situation than before… he was entirely different as a faint smile appeared on his face.

"I am… in Eldoria for real…" He whispered as he looked down at his hands, clenching it into a fist and feeling his nails dig into his palm, the pain was as real as everything around him.

And with that acceptance came something Miu did not expect.

"Can you… say the last part again?" Lucius asked as he slowly looked up at her and she felt his eyes were filled with something that she could name nor understand.

"Last Conqueror of Eldoria… that is title of you or at least was, but—"

A historical laugh… he just laughed, and with it, he changed into something entirely different from how he had acted just a moment ago.

In his eyes, there was no confusion anymore, only the acceptance of something far greater than he had ever imagined happening after death.

"So…" He suddenly stopped laughing and, now with a wide smile, looked up at Miu. "I am a… god, right?"

It was totally Miu's fault. She didn't explain things to him properly. She didn't do the one job she was created to do… to help new players. Well, to be honest, she wasn't cornered or imprisoned by scripts and codes anymore. She had her own direction, her own will, but she truly did it wrong with Lucius.

She emphasized the wrong thing to him, who he once was, and that is why there was that sudden change in his personality.

Not just that, but in Lucius's mind, he felt like he had hit the jackpot.

Dying on a hospital bed where he used to dream and think about how great it would be to be transmigrated or isekai'd, just like in anime or manga and now it actually happened.

He was truly dead and about to begin a new journey in his favorite game that he had dominated.

Or maybe not even a new journey, but the same one he walked in the past, back when he was completely untouchable in Eldoria. Even his weakest skill could wipe out the strongest dungeon boss, while his most overpowered skill was enough to defeat a Forgotten God.

And when he combined everything, he slaughtered every other PvP player and even wiped out the SunGods guild, those pay-to-win fucker all by himself.

With all of this, Miu knew where she had gone wrong. "A… god?"

"My character…" Lucius curled his fist again, feeling that sensation that it was all real…"My character was a max-level one with mythical runes, mythical weapons and accessories." He slowly looked up at Miu with that maniac smile on his face. "I… killed every boss, I killed every player that tried me, I even wiped out a whole guild… I topped the global server. I obtained even the Elixir of Life…. I am a god in this world."

Yeah, she finally understood it, those eyes of his, the pressure he felt wasn't Lucius… no, it was what he was once… the only player ever who obtained items that topped everything in the game, the only player in the whole game who obtained the Elixir of Life.

The player who truly could have been a god in Eldoria, who could have ruled over all races, over all the almighty beings… the one that could have wiped out Eldoria as a whole…. yeah just could.

"Khhhhh… hahahahAHAHA… I AM A GOD!" He looked up at the sky as he shouted, arms outstretched, and laughed… that insane hysterical laugh.

It was not a laugh of joy, but of chaos and she felt it even more. Those eyes of him were infused with the darkness of the past and that past was the pressure that she felt.

The aura of a player with over ten thousand PvP kills, the player who had defeated Lurina's four hundred-thousand-strong army in two minutes, the player who had killed one of the Forgotten Gods… at least in the past, when Eldoria was a game.

"Uhh, Lucius—"

"This is great… I can feel it, I can feel the power surging in me… I feel it—"

"Lucius!" Miu shouted now and finally got his attention, but that darkness was still in his eyes, the darkness of the knowledge of what power he thought he possessed. "Your character was… deleted.

"Huh…?"

Well, all of the so-called darkness, the so-called power, just disappeared from his eyes in a second.

"What you felt was the past or at least your imagination of it." Miu continued, but to be true she didn't understand what happened or how it happened.

The pressure and aura she felt was truly something enormous, so terrifying and dark that it almost infused her pure being…. maybe it was truly the player who he once was… NoobieBoobie23.

"You are now the character that the developers scripted in the game and what they scripted in is just a copy of your character without powers." She saw every bit of excitement just vanishing from Lucius' eyes as she began explaining it. "Your main character NoobieBoobie23 was deleted, because the developers thought it would be the best idea to honor your legacy. The player who conquered and found eternal peace in the end."

The character he had spent thousands of hours building was deleted by the developers after he passed away, and that decision actually caused an uproar on the forums. Many felt it was a disrespectful move, while others argued it fit the game's lore, as if the character had simply vanished and was never defeated.

But with Miu's explanation, Lucius' power trip ended quickly, though nobody could really blame him.

Like dying and then waking up in the game he had conquered, the game where he was the most powerful, anyone would have a power trip.

"Though there is one thing that you have." Miu said though she kinda looked like she wasn't sure to say it out loud.

"W-what…?" Lucius asked, becoming stressed, and of course, because he noticed Miu's worried face, a goddess's worried face.

"You are invincible, be happy." She said as put on a cute smile but what followed was silence.

Deep silence. The type of silence you know you are fucked up on a whole other level.

"Please tell me that…" He finally spoke his voice low with a terrified look. "I'm not an Eldoria-type invincible."

"Well, yes, you are." She answered quickly, still with that fake smile, as if it helped the situation… but hell no, it didn't.

Lucius as heard it just simply fell to his knees and his very being was shaken by the fact of what she just told him… that he is invincible.

I'm was fucked on Earth and even fucked here… haha—

But why? Why does invincibility in Eldoria mean everything but a blessing?

The answer is simple, yet complex.

In Eldoria, nothing was invincible. You could defeat anything if you leveled up your character, your gear, if you completed the highest-tier trial chambers, towers, and dungeons, or spent a lot of money with one exception.

There was a time when invincibility was a thing in the game… in an April Fools event.

To be true, it was more than an April Fools event and the developers truly did something unique, something that was fun for a day to most people… yeah… to the most because there the top two players of the event got something special.

One of them was the player who dealt the most damage during the event, who received a blessing, while the one who took the most damage and would have died the most had his game turn into hell for months, all thanks to the developer and their bright ideas.

The April Fools event was about invincibility, literally everything became invincible in the game, the bosses, the players, the NPCs, everything and with it, all the grind, all the sleepless nights turned to be worth nothing for a day.

"Why do you look like that? Being invincible and having a skill at the same time is something that everybody wishes for." As Miu said it Lucius just became more terrified, he looked like a zombie… exactly how he looked on his death bed.

"W-what do you mean by… having a skill?" Lucius asked as his voice was low and even stuttered. Not just that but now he truly looked like somebody who is over with everything and the reason for it was the April Fools event and the so-called 'invincibility.'

The event itself was almost like a psychological thing from the devs, like telling the players to go touch grass for a day, but no, the players did exactly the opposite of it.

Everybody, literally everybody in the game did one single thing.

They tried to kill each other, even though it was impossible, like level 1 players attacking level 1000s with their bare hands, not even wielding weapons. Everyone tried to kill everyone; they even raided bosses and dungeons.

Basically, the event turned into endless, meaningless fights that led nowhere, but, of course, the devs eventually came up with a way to give players something to actually gain in the end.

The ITL, Invincibility Trial Leaderboard.

So because players couldn't earn exp, skill points, couldn't even level up a bit, the endless bloodshed and fight just went on with one thing in mind, the ITL and its glorious Divine reward.

The top player who did the most damage through the whole day received the Divine Blessing, which granted 25 extra lives, in all situations and with no reset, which meant if the player died during a boss fight it didn't reset, which was a huge privilege to have, because all boss fights had a long prepare phase but on the other side there was a leaderboard too that received a gift too… a much worse one.

"P-please tell me you're not talking about—"

"The Fool of Death." Miu interrupted him shattering Lucius's entire being.

On the other side of the leaderboard was the player who took the most damage and for his performance, he received a title, "The Fool of Death" and with it came a passive skill.

A skill that was actually a curse.
