The café smelled of coffee and rain, a strange comfort in the bustling city.
Emma sat by the window, watching the drops slide down the glass like tears she didn't want to cry.
She wasn't expecting anyone. Not him.
And yet, there he was—Liam, with that same crooked smile she remembered from years ago.
Time seemed to pause. For a brief moment, the noise of the café, the chatter, the clinking of cups—all of it faded.
"Emma?" he asked, almost hesitant, as if saying her name aloud might shatter the fragile world between them.
She blinked, her heart skipping a beat.
"Liam…"
The world outside continued without them, but inside that café, it was just them—two hearts remembering what they had tried to forget.
They sat together, the silence heavy at first, then slowly filled with small talk, laughter, and the warmth of shared memories.
— "I can't believe it's been five years," Emma said, tracing the rim of her coffee cup.
— "Time flies… and yet, here we are," Liam replied, his eyes never leaving hers.
She noticed the little changes—how his hair had grown longer, how his smile had softened—but the essence remained the same. The Liam she had loved, and lost.
— "I've missed this," Liam admitted.
— "Me too," she whispered.
And just like that, the old spark ignited, cautious yet undeniable.
