I needed air.
Lots of air.
And it felt like I wasn't getting enough.
I tried to breathe as Cassian ordered Nico and the others to get the cars ready.
He came back, utter confusion and panic on his face like he wished he knew what to do.
Goosebumps appeared on my arm as another pain raked through me.
"Mmmm," I groaned, pressing my lips tight.
No screaming.
No shouting.
No yelling.
The baby didn't need it. I didn't need it.
"Don't touch me!" I snapped, yanking my arm as Cassian tried to hold it.
"Okay, okay," he whispered.
Immediately, the door opened and Nico arrived, Arthuro stringing along.
"Mummy."
Arthuro didn't even have the chance to touch the bed when I shot him a glare.
"Is mummy angry?" Arthuro asked, his voice suddenly small.
"No, big guy…" Cassian said, leading him out of the room. Whatever he said next was lost with the air that left the room.
