It hummed with energy, a stabilizer in a world teetering on destruction. A regulator to control the runaway divine power. And, unknown to humanity, a prison.
Because at the height of the war, the one human capable of withstanding the onslaught the Vessel descended into the crystal's heart. With a power of their own, the Vessel sealed Su and Mu inside, binding them. Not destroyed, not killed. Bound.
The sky eventually cleared. The oceans calmed. Day returned to night.
But the energy did not vanish. It seeped into the world, subtle and unseen.
Over generations, traces of Helion and Selene flux entered human bloodlines. Some were born compatible, able to wield the divine energy. Others were not.
Today, only twenty percent of humanity can resonate with flux. The rest live ordinary lives, untouched by power. Divine Affliction a body's rejection of flux remains rare, tragic, and feared.
