Chapter 26 - chapter 25

Keifer pulled Jay closer and sat her down at the desk.

He opened the folder again and spread the documents out carefully.

Jay watched him with a mix of fear and hope.

She didn't know how they were going to do it, but she trusted him.

Keifer's eyes were focused, determined.

"We need to make sure this is perfect," he said.

Jay nodded.

"What do you need from me?" she asked.

Keifer looked at her.

"Your full name," he said.

Jay blinked, surprised.

"My full name?" she repeated.

Keifer nodded.

"It's going to be your new identity," he said. "We need everything, and we need it to be believable."

Jay swallowed hard.

She took a deep breath and said, "Jay… Jay Watson."

Keifer nodded and wrote it down.

"Any middle name?" he asked.

Jay hesitated.

"I don't have one," she said quietly.

Keifer looked at her.

"Then we'll make one," he said. "Something simple."

Jay nodded.

"Okay," she whispered. "You choose."

Keifer thought for a moment.

"Jayleen," he said.

Jay blinked.

"That's… actually nice," she said, surprised.

Keifer nodded.

"Jayleen Watson," he said. "It sounds real."

Jay smiled faintly.

Keifer continued.

"Next, we need a new birthday," he said.

Jay frowned.

"A birthday?" she asked.

Keifer nodded.

"You need a new background," he said. "We'll create a story that no one can verify."

Jay's heart beat faster.

"What about my family?" she asked, worried.

Keifer's expression softened.

"We'll say you're estranged," he said. "That you cut ties. That you left home when you were young."

Jay's eyes widened.

"But my family will worry," she whispered.

Keifer nodded.

"We'll make sure they don't get involved," he said. "I'll take care of them."

Jay nodded slowly, still nervous.

Keifer continued.

"We'll need a new address," he said. "A new job. A new life."

Jay looked at him, overwhelmed.

"How will we do all that?" she asked.

Keifer smiled slightly.

"I have connections," he said. "People who can help."

Jay's eyes widened.

"You… you really planned for this?" she asked.

Keifer's expression turned serious.

"I didn't plan for you specifically," he said. "But I planned for the possibility of needing to disappear."

Jay's heart tightened.

She looked down, thinking.

"What about my phone?" she asked.

Keifer nodded.

"We'll get you a new one," he said. "And we'll make sure your old one is erased."

Jay's voice trembled.

"Will Jax find out?" she asked.

Keifer's eyes hardened.

"If we do this right, he won't," he said.

Jay swallowed hard.

She could feel the weight of the situation.

Keifer continued, pulling out a pen and paper.

"Now we need your new story," he said. "Where you came from, what you do, who you are."

Jay stared at him.

"I don't know how to make up a whole life," she whispered.

Keifer nodded.

"I'll help you," he said. "We'll keep it simple."

Jay took a deep breath.

"Okay," she whispered. "Let's do it."

Keifer began to write, and Jay watched as he carefully planned everything.

He chose a new city, a new job, a new background.

He made sure everything was believable, with details that could be verified but not easily traced back to her.

Jay felt her heart rate slow slightly as the plan took shape.

It felt like a real chance.

A real escape.

Keifer looked at her.

"You're doing great," he said softly.

Jay smiled weakly.

"I'm scared," she admitted.

Keifer's expression softened.

"I know," he said. "But you're not alone."

Jay looked at him, her eyes shining.

"Thank you," she whispered.

Keifer nodded.

"We'll do this," he said. "And we'll do it right."

Jay nodded, feeling the first real sense of hope in a long time.

She knew the road ahead wouldn't be easy.

But with Keifer by her side, she finally believed she could be free.
