THIRD PERSON'S POINT OF VIEW
The car hummed along dark roads, its interior quiet save for the low thrum of the engine. Sera sat in the backseat of a vehicle she didn't recognize, spine straight as she tried to parse the shapes in front of her-two dark silhouettes up front, shoulders broad and familiar enough she knew they were Kidd and Kieran.
It was well past nightfall, and Lucian still hadn't come back. As he'd said before leaving, they wouldn't be staying at Ace's place any longer-they were heading home.
She let out a long breath, the air warm against her lips. She squinted toward the front, and Kidd must have caught the movement in the rearview mirror.
"Everything okay back there, Sera?" He spoke quick enough to make her jump, her shoulders tensing for a second before she relaxed.
"I'm fine." Her voice was steady, even if her hands were folded tight in her lap.
