"Miss?" A male voice this time, respectful but firm. "Alpha Kade is ready to see you whenever you're prepared."
Dakota took a deep breath, trying to center herself, trying to find some semblance of composure before facing the man who'd claimed her last night.
"I'm ready," she called back, the lie obvious even to her own ears.
She wasn't ready.
Wasn't prepared.
Had no idea what she was going to say or how she was going to navigate this impossible situation.
But she was out of time and out of options.
So she opened the door and followed the guard down unfamiliar hallways, toward whatever conversation awaited her with the Alpha who'd marked her, claimed her, and changed her entire life in the span of a few desperate hours.
