Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 Ripples in the Heart

As a legendary Pokémon, Entei doesn't need to replenish its energy through eating like ordinary Pokémon.

Looking at the berry offered by the human cub, Entei's solemn face remained silent for a moment, not accepting it.

It wasn't that it disliked it, but simply that it didn't need it.

However, seeing its refusal, the human cub immediately withdrew the berry with a disappointed expression, seemingly very sad.

Entei: "..."

Oh well, Entei thought.

It stretched out its paws, pulled the berry in front of it, lowered its head, and bit into it, eating it in a few bites.

Entei didn't look at the human cub's expression again. It then stood up, its gaze fixed on the distance.

It couldn't stay here too long.

As a member of the Ho-Oh Guard, there were still many things waiting for it in this world.

It had to return this human cub to human territory.

Entei, like a large cat, circled behind Fuyuki, gently lifting his clothes from behind with its teeth, intending to transport the human cub to a human town this way.

However, before it could take two steps forward, a violent cough erupted from the cub's throat, and its tiny hands began to struggle violently.

"Cough cough—" The clothes were choking him!

Fuyuki felt a wave of suffocation and instinctively flailed.

But this feeling quickly disappeared as Entei put him down.

"Cough cough—!" Fuyuki sat on the ground, panting heavily.

Entei stood to the side, watching him thoughtfully.

Soon, this intelligent legendary Pokémon realized that the human cub wasn't a Pokémon, and carrying him by the neck for an extended period would make him uncomfortable.

So, what about riding?

Entei then turned its gaze to Fuyuki's short legs and arms.

It decisively picked up Fuyuki again and tossed him onto its back.

"Hold on tight!" Entei said in a deep voice.

Fuyuki tensed, instinctively clinging to Entei.

Feeling that the human cub was firmly in his grasp, Entei immediately quickened its pace.

However, Fuyuki was still not even a year old, and his strength was limited. Before long, his arm, which was tightly gripping Entei's fur, ran out of strength.

His grip loosened, and Fuyuki showed signs of slipping.

Just as he was about to fall off Entei's back, Entei, as if sensing something, deliberately slowed down and finally stopped in an open area.

Fuyuki slid down Entei's slightly rough fur to the ground.

He looked at Entei, trying to communicate with it.

"Wah wah Yah Yah!"

Entei couldn't understand. Its gaze fell on the human cub's arm, and it quickly understood the situation.

The little one was too young; his strength was limited, and he couldn't sit steadily on its back.

"Hmm..." Entei frowned, its majestic face growing even more serious.

This was a problem.

If it were alone, it could cross the forest and reach the human town in less than half a day.

But with a child, its speed was greatly reduced.

"..." Entei remained silent for a moment, sighing inwardly.

"Well, this human cub's parents died protecting Pokémon. As a Pokémon, it's my duty to take care of their child."

Having no other choice, Entei could only proceed slowly.

Where was Entei taking him?

At first, Fuyuki didn't know what Entei was thinking.

But seeing Entei's actions, he quickly realized something.

Entei seemed to be planning to take him back to the human town!

Instantly, Fuyuki's heart was filled with gratitude towards this big cat.

If he could speak, he would definitely thank Entei properly.

Unfortunately, his vocal cords weren't fully developed, so he could only make incoherent sounds.

The human and his Pokémon walked and stopped, constantly traversing this vast forest.

Before they knew it, two days had passed.

During these two days, Entei and Fuyuki followed a very regular schedule.

They traveled during the day and rested at night.

Whenever it was time to eat, Entei would settle Fuyuki in a safe place before going out to find berries.

While Fuyuki ate the berries, Entei would lie beside him, silently watching.

At night, Entei would hold the human cub in its arms, warming him with its own body heat.

Just like now.

Entei silently watched Fuyuki, its expression neither sad nor happy, making it impossible to discern its thoughts.

Fuyuki didn't mind. After these two days together, he was quite certain that Entei wouldn't harm him.

And because of this, Fuyuki grew increasingly bold. He snuggled into Entei's embrace, burying his face in its soft fur, and couldn't help but sigh: Entei is so warm!

Especially the fur on its belly. Unlike the slightly rough fur on its back, the fur on its abdomen was so soft and fluffy. If you smelled it closely, you could even detect a hint of sunshine, mixed with the delicious aroma of popcorn.

Thinking this, Fuyuki couldn't resist snuggling even closer into Entei's embrace.

Just kidding, this was the embrace of a legendary Pokémon! Sleeping in the arms of the legendary Pokémon Entei—this was something to brag about for a lifetime!

Fuyuki knew very well that once they returned to the human town, he and Entei would be separated.

The world was vast, and he didn't know if they would ever meet again.

Even if they had the chance, it would probably be more than ten years later.

He might as well take this opportunity to pet Entei a little longer.

Entei lay on its side on the grass, turning its head to look at the human infant nestled against its belly, a sense of surprise washing over it.

This little one liked it so much, depended on it so much…

At that moment, a thought suddenly surfaced in Entei's mind.

If the little one knew that it was going to abandon it alone in human territory, never to see it again, wouldn't it be heartbroken?

Perhaps it would cry its heart out? Just like when they first met.

A ripple of emotion stirred within Entei, a feeling that disturbed its thoughts.

Entei closed its eyes, trying to stop thinking, but its mind raced uncontrollably.

The little one's parents were dead; from now on, it had no parents.

And as far as Entei knew, human infants of this age were completely incapable of living independently; they needed care to grow up healthy.

How would the little one, unable to speak, walk, forage for food, and even afraid of the cold while sleeping, survive back in human territory? And who would care for it? We found him tree fruits to fill his stomach.
