"That's strange, " Aven thought, keeping his eyes on the child who seemed harmless at first but now gave him a feeling that he really couldn't describe. He thought that he was in for a joke when he saw the amount that was going to be paid for the head of a child , making him think that it was just a setup since the location of the target was the bastion but looking at the once in a lifetime contract his greed couldn't, let him The mission promised him a lot of resources that was hard to come by in the first place.

While it bugged him a little , he quickly threw it to the back of his head ' its all in my mind ' he thought pulling out a black long blade, he really couldn't use magic here in order not to alert any unwanted attention, he needed to be quick and precise in his action and leave without any traces, or that was the plan.
He moved from his current spot, hoping to end it in a single strike. He closed the distance to the stunned kid, who seemed like he was muttering something under his breath, and raised his blade ready for the kill, when he suddenly had a feeling of dread wash over him and instinctively jumped away.
' that's ... impossible ' Aven couldn't help but be surprise , what he felt wasn't killing intent, but something else that made him want to back away as far as possible 'its just a kid ….. why am I scared ?' that thought crossed his mind and he moved again clearing the thought off his mind thinking he was just imagining things but Ash moved this time dodging the incoming attack with a side step. Aven swiped the blade hoping to caught him in the radius but he somehow still dodged going low on the attack before putting some distance between them.
" Who sent you ?" the boy asked not really looking fazed in the slightest "maybe if you are In a pool of blood I will think about it " Aven moved again aiming for Ash somehow was able to keep his distance from him and even when he still got close he miraculously was able to escape from his grasp.
This continued for a while, and he began to intensify his effort, but the kid kept escaping most of it, luckily, although he was able to land a few hits, none of them seemed to be enough to bring him down.' I'm struggling against a child .... A CHILD?' just the thought of that made him angry even more.
Many had fallen because of his blade, and they were stronger than the child, and he didn't even bother to use his essence while doing so, but now the child in front of him somehow seemed to be able to evade his attack. If anything he had a smirk tugging at the side of his lips, but Aven didn't seem to care allowing dark mana to condense around his hand forming a blade , he wanted to end it now , essence wasn't an option now but he had to do it anyway and think about it later since they had dragged it out for too long and anyone could arrive at any point in time, the barrier only prevented things from going out not vise versa.
'Swish ' something slashed at him when he was about to release his attack , and he didn't have time to react accordingly, since part of it was his target, and the other was on the attack, giving him little time to react. The attack hit his left eye; instead of a hit as he expected, it was more of a slash to his left eye.a loud sound of pain escaped from his mouth as he moved away firing the attack at a random target due to the shock followed by the sound of shattered glass, the warm feeling of blood caressed his face giving him the surprise of his life ' it shouldn't be possible ' he thought looking up to see that Ash had already closed the gap between them.
He moved with nothing but rage since he thought that there was no trick that the child would use to hurt him but that turned out wrong, the child moved a little faster than he was before , not enough to overpower him but enough to give him problem without his body being enhanced with essence.He blocked the first strike with his blade before opting for a kick to create distance , only for an attack out of nowhere to be fired, but he managed to move out of the way in time, ending up with a graze close to his eyes.
' This kid is trying to make me blind, ' he thought, giving him more distance than he intended." what kind of sorcery is this , ill like to know " Aven asked looking at the kid who was now breathing heavily obviously out of breath , he was tired too which gave him more reason to and this pointless struggle quick added with the fact that the attack he miss fired before had broken the barrier and most likely alerted the night guards and they would be making their way soon enough.
Instead of an answer Ash moved again and that was when he noticed it , at the corner of his eye something was hovering around them taking advantage of his blind spot while his eyes were on Ash , his noticed with his right eye since the left was almost out of commission making his vision blurry but he noticed it.
