Chapter 42 - THE SILENCE AFTER THE STORM

After the chaos of battles, divine observation, and the rewriting of the planet's balance, a quiet morning finally arrived.

The sky over Earth was clear.

A soft breeze moved through the city streets, carrying none of the pressure or distortion that had once hung over the world. There were no ripples in the sky, no hidden tremors beneath the ground.

It felt as if the planet itself had taken a long, deep breath.

High above the streets, Raiyen sat on the edge of a rooftop overlooking the waking city.

The Limiter Rings around his arms were in their normal state now, calm and silent. There was no black flame surrounding him, no aura hinting at the power he carried.

To anyone who saw him, he looked like nothing more than an ordinary young man sitting quietly in the morning air.

But behind his eyes lived experiences that no ordinary human could understand.

As the wind brushed past him, Raiyen's thoughts drifted inward.

"It's strange," he thought to himself.

"When everything becomes quiet… that's when the mind becomes the loudest."

Across the city, sunlight slowly filled the windows of homes and apartments.

Aira opened the window of her room and let the fresh morning air flow inside. The warm light touched her face, and she instinctively checked the anchor symbol connected to Raiyen.

It glowed softly.

Stable.

Safe.

For the first time in a long while, she allowed herself a gentle smile.

"…Finally," she whispered. "A normal day."

Elsewhere in the apartment, Veyra was already awake.

She stood in the kitchen preparing tea, moving with a relaxed rhythm that had been impossible during the crisis. As the water boiled, she glanced toward Raiyen.

"Yesterday the planet was close to collapse," she said casually.

"And today the tea tastes sweeter."

She placed a cup in front of him.

"You should drink too," she added with a faint grin. "Even heroes are still human."

Raiyen accepted the cup.

"…Maybe," he replied quietly.

When he took the first sip, he realized something strange.

For the first time in a long while, he was actually tasting it.

In the darker corners of the room, Korrin remained hidden within the shadows.

But she wasn't monitoring threats or scanning for anomalies.

She was simply watching.

Watching the quiet movements of people living their lives.

"…Even peace can be a test," she murmured to herself.

Below them, the streets were already alive.

Children walked toward their schools, laughing and talking among themselves. Vendors shouted to attract customers. Cars passed by, horns echoing through the busy roads.

It was ordinary noise.

Yet it carried a simple message from the world itself.

We're still alive.

Later that morning, Raiyen walked through those same streets.

No one recognized him.

No one knew he had just saved the planet.

And strangely, that made him feel lighter.

"I don't need anyone to remember me," he thought quietly.

"As long as the world keeps going."

Aira eventually caught up to him and began walking beside him.

For a while, neither of them spoke.

Then she glanced at him nervously.

"You won't disappear again… right?" she asked.

"Not without telling me."

Raiyen stopped walking and looked at her.

For a moment, his expression softened.

"Not this time," he said simply.

The words were short, but they carried a deeper promise.

Aira let out a small breath and smiled faintly.

"…That's enough for me."

There were more things she wanted to say, but she kept them to herself.

For once, silence felt comfortable.

Raiyen deliberately kept his senses closed.

No cosmic awareness.

No scanning the edges of reality.

No searching for hidden threats.

He allowed himself to experience only the present moment.

"I can't stay on guard forever," he thought quietly.

As evening approached, the sky turned shades of orange and purple.

Raiyen sat on a park bench watching the fading sunlight. Aira sat beside him, and the two simply looked toward the horizon.

No conversation.

Just quiet company.

From a distance, Korrin watched them without stepping closer.

"This moment belongs to them," she thought.

"And maybe… to the world as well."

High above, the heavens remained silent.

The God of Light continued observing, but without pressure, without interference. His gaze moved quietly across the world he had chosen to watch.

On Earth, Raiyen looked up at the evening sky for a moment.

But he felt no threat there.

"…Good," he said softly.

"For now, let's just live."

Night eventually fell.

The stars appeared bright and clear, shining above a planet that had finally returned to perfect balance.

It was as if the universe itself was whispering gently:

Tomorrow may bring something new.

But tonight… rest.

Raiyen closed his eyes.

"I won't go too far," he promised himself.

"Not unless it's necessary."

"I'll stay here."

The darkness of night deepened, and the world settled into quiet sleep.

In that silence, one final thought echoed softly—

Peace is not always emptiness.

Sometimes…

it is simply the moment when the world is allowed to breathe.
