Chapter 34 - RESET TO ZERO

The battlefield was quiet after the Devourer's retreat.

Too quiet.

Inside Raiyen, the storm finally arrived.

His body trembled as the suppressed recoil of his raw potential caught up with him. Breath turned uneven. Muscles felt heavy despite showing no external damage. What he had held back earlier now demanded its price.

He dropped to one knee—not with a dramatic impact, not with shattering ground, but with a subtle loss of grip against reality itself.

"Stop holding it in," Veyra urged.

Korrin's voice was tight with urgency. "If not now… then never."

Raiyen closed his eyes.

"…Fine."

For one single second, the Limiter Rings shifted into unlock mode.

Earth responded—not with alarms, not with panic—but with awareness. A low planetary hum resonated through the air, as if the world itself acknowledged what was about to happen.

Raiyen released his power.

Not as an explosion.

Not as a flare of light.

Just one breath.

A silent wave passed outward, gentle and absolute—like the planet inhaling deeply for the first time in ages.

On the next heartbeat, everything corrected.

Muscle fibers restored beyond strain.

Nerves aligned flawlessly.

Soul lag neutralized.

Residual fatigue erased.

Immediate Heal and Immediate Regeneration triggered together in perfect synchronization—not as emergency reactions, but as a complete recalibration.

His body didn't simply recover.

It reset.

Raiyen rose smoothly to his feet. Posture relaxed. Breathing calm. No sign of prior exhaustion.

Korrin stared at him, stunned.

"That wasn't healing," she whispered. "That was a reset.

For a fraction of a second, something dangerous flickered in Raiyen's awareness. A quiet, intoxicating clarity. In that state, he could end it all instantly—the Devourer, the Architects, every threat looming over Earth.

His fingers twitched.

Then he opened his eyes—ordinary, human eyes.

"No."

The surge cut itself off.

Limiter One reengaged.

Limiter Two locked.

Limiter Three sealed planetary balance.

The rings closed with a heavy, final sound—stricter than before.

Earth stabilized instantly.

Korrin exhaled slowly, realization settling in. "You're not addicted to power," she said. "…You're its warden."

A faint smile touched Raiyen's lips. "Someone has to be."

On the other side of the planet, Aira felt a sudden lightness in her chest, as if an invisible weight had been lifted. The anchor symbol on her hand glowed softly, stable for the first time without strain. She smiled—genuinely—without fear.

Hidden in their chamber, the Architects observed in silence.

"He could have ended everything," one said quietly.

The Observer replied, almost thoughtfully, "But he chose to bind himself again."

A pause.

"That's more dangerous."

Deep within Earth's core, the Devourer stirred too late.

"HE TOUCHED IT…" the ancient voice growled.

"AND LET IT GO."

Anger mixed with something close to confusion. Power had been within reach—and willingly surrendered.

Raiyen turned to the others and spoke calmly.

"Power is for maintenance," he said. "Not for decision."

Veyra understood immediately. Power would not choose the future—he would.

Korrin scanned him once more, this time carefully.

Soul stable.

Body optimal.

No active future bleed.

"You're in perfect condition," she concluded.

Raiyen shook his head slightly. "Not perfect."

"Prepared."

He began to walk, each step grounded and deliberate. Potential suppressed. Abilities sealed. Yet his presence remained heavy, controlled rather than hidden.

Far below, the Devourer shifted its strategy.

Brute force would not work.

IF I CANNOT BREAK HIM…

…THEN I WILL BREAK WHAT HE PROTECTS.

Korrin sensed the shift in intent immediately.

"You're stable now," she warned quietly. "So it won't attack you directly."

"It'll attack your choices."

Raiyen nodded. "I know."

He lifted his gaze toward the dark sky.

"I'm right here," he said softly. "Whenever you're ready."

"But the rules are mine."

Somewhere on Earth, in an ordinary city, an ordinary person froze mid-step. Their eyes turned hollow, expression empty.

A whisper coiled through their mind.

PROXY ESTABLISHED.

At that exact moment, one of Raiyen's Limiter Rings vibrated faintly.

He felt it.

"…So that's how you want to play," he murmured.

His expression did not change.

"Then let's begin."
