Chapter 54 - Chapter 51: Ipsissimus

[AUTHOR NOTE: Thanks to Jandro123 for giving me tip on Gumroad.]

"You should already have a good understanding of this world's structure," Aiwass droned, the static voice vibrating in the air.

"Should we say that 'God' reached your level? Or that you have reached 'God's' level? It is a semantic debate. But there is no doubt: reaching this level allows one to leave the 'Phase' and explore the void."

"You also know that the Creator—the original 'God'—has disappeared. He likely departed for another world, just as you have arrived from one."

"In my calculations, this level is referred to as [ERROR]."

When Aiwass reached the crucial term, the sound distorted into a violent buzz, like a radio frequency being jammed by the universe itself.

Yuuya raised an eyebrow.

"This is inconvenient," Aiwass continued, unfazed. "The material world cannot express this term linguistically."

"However, using the lexicon recorded by Aleister in the A.'.A.'. (Argentium Astrum), it can be approximated."

The golden halo pulsed.

"10=1. Ipsissimus."

"The Highest Self. The annihilation of the Self. It can only be understood by reaching it. I can see its shadow, but I cannot touch it."

Aiwass looked at Yuuya with a blank, mosaic face.

Yuuya rubbed his temples. He felt a headache coming on.

'What is he saying? I understand the words—10=1, the Keter, the Crown—but listening to him is exhausting.'

Although the metaphysics were dense, one thing was clear: Aiwass wanted something.

Yuuya took a deep breath. He decided to cut through the noise.

"So," Yuuya interrupted. "Your appearance here means you're interested in me."

"Do you want to know what's beyond this world? Or do you want some kind of power from me?"

"Just say it directly. I prefer to get straight to the point."

These higher-dimensional beings were all the same. They had lived for eons, so they had forgotten how to be concise. They turned simple sentences into philosophical riddles.

Talking to them was dangerous. One wrong word, and they might glean information you didn't mean to share.

"Do you prefer directness?" Aiwass mused. "It seems that beings of your level have their personalities reshaped to match their current biological age after reincarnation. How human."

The light and shadow of Aiwass drifted closer.

"At the moment of my birth, the Creator had already disappeared. I could only perceive the residue of His information in the Phases."

"Later, magicians appeared who sought to become gods. But the ultimate goal they reached was only 9=2. Magus."

"They are called Magic Gods."

Aiwass's voice dripped with subtle mockery.

"Those who attain wisdom, master all magic, and disregard resistance. They are Masters of the Law. They can create new universes and rewrite rules according to their will."

"But that is all. Because they retain their 'Will,' they can never reach the Highest Level. They cannot reach 10=1."

"Therefore," Aiwass concluded. "I want to find the answer in you."

"I crave unknown knowledge. I crave amusement. I have found the answer I seek in your Essence, so I intend to observe you."

Yuuya let out a short laugh.

"Ha. You're bold. Or do you overestimate yourself?"

He looked at the angel with a sharp grin.

"Knowing that I hold the authority of the Creator, you still intend to use me as a guinea pig for observation? Don't you think that's presumptuous?"

Yuuya was surprised. Aiwass understood the nature of his power remarkably well. He recognized it as something superior to the Magic Gods (Othinus, Nephthys, etc.).

"Is your way of thinking also limited by your biological age?" Aiwass retorted calmly. "From a human perspective, it is presumptuous. But at this stage, I can provide the assistance you require. This is a transaction."

"A deal..."

Yuuya crossed his arms.

"Is this the same method you used with Aleister? Interesting."

"But if we are making a deal, let's set our identities straight. With Aleister, I am a 'Student.' With you... I need a different title."

Yuuya stood up, tapping his chest.

"In the world where this power originates, my level is called The One True God."

"You may address me as such."

"The One True God..." Aiwass repeated. "Hehe. An easily understood concept."

"10=1. The Self equals the One. Very fitting."

"The Magic Gods failed because Polytheism has flaws. They could not achieve Annihilation because they could not unify. Destined to be incomplete."

The "Angel" sounded like he was mocking a demon.

Yuuya's eye twitched. 'This guy really has a foul mouth.'

"If I am not mistaken, Takahashi," Aiwass continued, analyzing him.

"You currently exist in a state of Infinite Superposition between 'The One True God' and 'Humanity'."

"You possess the Authority, but you cannot wield its full power because your human nature dilutes it. To naturally merge these states and return to the level of Creator would take at least 200 years."

Yuuya narrowed his eyes. Aiwass was right.

He had the ultimate hardware, but his software (Human Brain) was incompatible. He couldn't access the admin commands.

"Therefore," Aiwass proposed. "I will impart my knowledge to you. I will teach you the wisdom of the Pure World."

"This will shorten the merger time from 200 years... to less than 10 years."

Yuuya's eyes lit up.

Aiwass's knowledge.

This was a treasure trove. Aiwass was born in the Aeon of Horus, existing before modern magic. He held the secrets of the universe.

To reach the level of "God" in just 10 years? That was a cheat code.

"So," Yuuya asked cautiously. "What is the price?"

"There is no such thing as a free lunch. Free things are usually the most expensive."

"This is an exchange of knowledge," Aiwass said. "I want Equivalent Knowledge from the Other World you came from."

"Deal," Yuuya said after a moment's thought. "But I can only give you that knowledge once I fully ascend to the 'One True God' state."

"Of course. I can wait."

"So, can I have it now?" Yuuya asked, his heart racing.

"Yes. But a warning."

Aiwass's halo flared.

"Your current 'Human' brain cannot withstand the direct infection of Pure Knowledge."

"For humans, even a single word of high-level truth acts as a Spiritual Toxin. It is why reading an Original Grimoire turns a human brain to mush."

"I will transmit vast amounts of data. It will be painful."

"Heh."

Yuuya smirked. He tapped his head with unprecedented confidence.

"Who do you think I am?"

"Don't compare me to ordinary magicians. Spiritual Toxins? Original Grimoires?"

"Even if you stuffed every Grimoire in history into my skull, I wouldn't feel a thing."

"Don't judge the 'One True God' based on your limited perspective."
