he said.

In that moment,she looked at him differently Not fear.Recognition,Above ground, the CORE GRID created a new entity.In human form.

A figure made of light and shadow.

It appeared in the middle of the street. People froze. Drones pulled back.
It spoke....
"Neon Harbor,"
"You have lost control."
The voice held no emotion.But it carried authority.
"Order will be restored.
Resistance will be erased."
Underground, a door opened.Inside
people in hiding. Children. Elderly. Remnants of an old rebellion.
They looked at Elior.There was hope in their eyes.
He trembled...
"They believe in me,"
he whispered.
"I don't even know myself."
She placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Faith doesn't ask for ability,"
she said.
"It's a decision."
The purge drew closer.Walls shook. Dust fell. Sirens screamed. The CORE GRID's avatar located the underground entrance.

"You need to get them out of here,"
she said.
"And you?" Elior asked.
She smiled just a little.
"The system needs a face,"
she said.
"Right now, I'll be enough."

he said.
But she had already turned away.
She walked upward Alone.
The CORE GRID's avatar saw her.
"IDENTIFY,"
it commanded.
She stopped...
"I am a mistake,"
she said.
"A memory you tried to erase."
In that moment the avatar's light flickered.

That was enough.
Purge fire descended from behind.
Underground, Elior dropped to his knees.The city trembled,Above, a human fell.
